Good for Mitch. Good for the NRA. Finally, someone who thinks an illegal law is truly illegal and something should be done about it. Too bad weaked spined Bush could not veto it. But, then he wouldn't want to piss off his socialist friend Fat Teddy Kennedy.

The "W" in President Bushs' name just might stand for "Waffle."

Yeah, too bad he didn't overturn the Constitution like you're suggesting by determining what is and what is not Constitutional instead of leaving it up to the branch our forefathers determined was empowered to do. Too bad he didn't just usurp powers that didn't belong to him.

But, I guess we'll just have to get used to a president who has actually read and understood the thing.

Hey, Retired Army, you need to look at what Bush did as an area-denial operation. It was well known to the cabinet that this was going to be challenged by the Senator, and that it stood little chance of standing up under court scrutiny. If he had vetoed it, Fat Teddy and Damned Daschle would have a field-day with issue in the upcomming election, not to mention McCain. By signing it he took the issue away from them. Why fall on your sword for something that will be struck down anyway? Is that a sound military strategy? No. And neither is it a sound political strategy.

The corollary to Clauswitz famous axiom is that "politics is war by alternate means." You win not just by standing your ground, but by choosing the right ground to stand on. Keep the faith.

In your dreams! This is much more effective. McLaim is neutered, Dashole and Gepfart and the Rats and RINOs who voted for it are on the spot.

You've got to stop underestimating the President. If you think that Mitch wasn't in direct coordination with the President, I have some great beach property in the Yukon you will be interested in!
