Let's face it.

The Republicans are just as culpable in letting Clinton slide as the Democrats, maybe even more so. They had majorities in both houses but let the minority dictate the rules. The Democrats had an excuse too. They might have thought it would have been bad for their party if Clinton went down.

What was the Republicans' excuse?

Perhaps Those "In a position to Influence the Public Perception of the 'Clinton Debacle'" were unwilling to subject the US Presidency to the National & International Ridicule & loss of Prestige & subsequent loss of Authority inherent in exposing the occupant of our Highest Office to be a Sociopathic Rapist!

The "Authority & Prestige" of the OFFICE of the President of the United States has value to our Nation FAR ABOVE the failings of its occupant.

The "Office of the Presidency" is an important National Asset! I Don't pretend to have the "wisdom" to evaluate the "Damage" "Full Disclosure" of the "Clinton Crimes" would do to our International "Leverage!"

If they had hard evidence of any kind everyone who voted not to impeach should be noted in history.

The Republicans refused to harp on the allegations, instead they pretended to be above it. Privately they hoped for the Clintons to fall, but publicly they preferred to ignore the questions. The Democrats called the charges and allegations political, and by the Republicans not pounding on the vulnerability, Clinton escaped. Republicans only had to send speaker after speaker to the talk shows, in interviews to newspapers, and buy political ads in tv, radio and other places, they could have changed opinion, but they are/were weak. Ironically, by holding their tongues, they lost the battle for the minds of America. Most Americans believe the charges against Clinton, were entirely political. IMO, they deserve to be a 2nd tier organization, they belong in the same place as the Whigs. The current leaders are still following this same game plan, compromise and get along, all the while getting nothing in return but a kick in the teeth.

I'm surprised no one has come up with the obvious answer: 900+ FBI files in the hands of the Clintons!
The Republiboobs didn't want their own perversions and peccadilloes bought to public attention.
