"Bobby, how does it feel to be eliminated from March Madness in the first round YET AGAIN, while your old team will be playing in the Final Four this weekend?"
Knight left IU in fall of 2000. Everyone playing regularly on the IU team this year is at least a sophomore, and was recruited by Knight. This is a team that he contructed. Also, Kirk Haston, a first round pick last year would have been a senior this year had he not packed up early.

They've always been a good program under Gary Williams (272-143 at Maryland), but it's my understanding that their best showings have come since he tempered his formerly Knight-like intensity. I notice that he's AP's ACC Coach of the Year, as well as Sportsline.com's national Coach of the Year. Yes, I think he's dialed it down a notch as of late. I think there should be a sense that in-season there are obstacles to overcome and things will not go perfectly. And in the handling of those situations, the team will be prepared to perform at peak levels during the playoffs. That way the athletes look forward with anticipation, as opposed to breathinga sign of relief at having made it through the regular season.
Knight seems to treat every game as the end-all. With certain groups this can work, but over 30 seasons he would be more successful to go a bit easier.

How do you know that? No one knows for sure, but it's a safe bet. IU has played inspired ball in this tournament, something that's been lacking under Knight. And it's something you'd expect to see out of a Duke, Arizona or Michigan State team.

Should have appeared on Larry King next to a gay guy.
Then he could have started yelling at the gay guy.
Then the headline could have been Knight threatens Queen, putting King in check.

Then the headline could have been Knight threatens Queen, putting King in check. ROFL.

Hey, come on now Nittany - Texas Tech is MY school....... at least they made it to the Tournament........... LOL. And that's more than my alma mater can say!

But his continual in-your-face assault for five months An absolute lie! As a former season ticket holder I can tell you that. BTW Your the one who believed the ESPN movie! I heard of several being out there, but had no confirmation till now.

Knight threatens Queen, putting King in check.
Funniest thing I've read all day!

I'm just happy IU's still playing. It's been a tough few years in Hoosierland. Not too many people in Bloomington this week worrying about Knight's departure.

Every story I've ever read and account I've ever heard has been that Knight rides his players hard from Day 1 of the season until the season ends.

NittanyLion= Ms Cleo

To: sausageseller
NittanyLion= Ms Cleo Nah, but it's an educated guess. And I have some experience in the field. Also, the fact that Knight didn't make it this far in the past nine years, with many of these same players, is a pretty good indicator.

Ask Nolan Richardson how many kids have graduated from Arkansas since he started there? I know, racist question. My bad.

Again an ABSOLUTE lie.
Even "Season on the Brink" reads different than YOUR account.
Also Steve Alfords book, "Playing for Knight" proves you wrong.
BTW I would believe Steve Alford before you!
To: sausageseller
I am an IU grad and supported Knight for many years, but enough got to be enough. Bottom line was that he expects total devotion and discipline from everyone around him, but is completely undisciplined in his own conduct. It was also completely classless of him to encourage Haston to go pro to try (unsuccessfully) to torpedo the Hoosiers' chances this year and to talk Sean May out of going to IU.
