Don't think George W. wants a trade war. Just a level playing field, eliminating the many govt. subsidies for goods in markets where we compete. Looks to me like that's what is under way IMHO. However, I ain't no economist.

#8........The US has as many subsidies as anyone else, now if we sat down and cleared all subsidies off the deck, that would be something else, and I am all for that.

There's no way to defend these tariffs. They must be eliminated. Bush is no free marketeer, that's for sure. He wouldn't know a free market if one fell on his head.
