As this whole situation unfolds, I'm afraid it's going to take on some of the aspects of the old Cary Grant flick, "My Favorit Wife."

We are sending someone in to negotiate
To: codebreaker
He better get this pilot back to us right now, no negociations. Who the fck they think they are and what the heck Powell has been doing again?
To: codebreaker
Am I missing something here? What is there to "discuss"? The invitation says either they have him or they are just angling for a media bonanza. They should get an ultimatum: turn him over or REAL PAIN begins immediately. A Saddam Palace gets vaporized each and every day. Drinking water is a thing of the past. Oil fields....what oil fields?

Great, so now we all realize that the Iraqis are telling the truth, and that this guy is alive? It sounds more likely that the guy is not alive, and the Iraqis are trying a third-rate attempt at staving off an American attack. The Afghanis tried the same thing with the Christian women they were holding. It didn't save the Afghanis, and it probably won't save the Iraqis.

It's a ruse.
