You seem to have made an assumption, and not a very flattering one, about one of your fellow citizens, that he is a racist. Nothing in his post suggests such a thing. Well, let's review the post I responded to. After already identifying herself as a South Texan, she then added Yes, I am a Southerner as well.
which seems to be a reference to the confederacy(not a problem in and of intself), but quickly followed by I have a strong distrust of anything "mexican"
Now put together, how is an American of mexican heritage likely to read that as an inference? Maybe it wasn't intentional, but at the least it was careless.
Sorry, but there is way too much implied racism in some of the posts here on FR. I too, can't stand the Jesse Jackson types who fling race at every opportunity and charge 'racism' where non exists. At the same time, when it actually does happen, it should admonished. Do we want to incorporate and win over conservative minorities to the party, or not?

I have a strong distrust of anything mexican. That is very true and is the result of Texas history, and various dictators who have ruled over mexico in the past few decades. They have all been liars, and have favored allowing illegals to move into the US. Mexico has torture Americans many times.
I favor America strongly, and I distrust anything mexican. Don't you?
Forget your skin color. Fall in love with America and forsake the 3rd world.

Actually you've unfortunately bought into revisionist history. Spain/Mexico had been dreadfully unable to really 'settle' Texas due to the 'mean Indians' that lived there. It seems Comanches (and Apaches and others in the SouthWest) slaughtered anyone they found on 'their lands'. Most of the 'old settlements' in Texas are really forts and fort towns for this reason. Spain/Mexico invited 'stupid anglos' from America to settle since there weren't any Spaniards silly enough to voluntarily get slaughtered by Comanches continually. It seems these Americans (many of whom were half-breeds themselves..do a bio on the original Alamo folks) actually managed to contain the Comanches. Spain/Mexico tried to oppress them. They 'contained' the new oppressors as well...And formed Texas.
