Pakistanis Missing From Ship

NewsChannel 3 has learned that four Pakistanis are missing from a ship that was in Hampton Roads last week.

The ship "Progresso," which is a Russian ship sailing under a Maltese flag, made a port of call in Chesapeake last Friday. When it left port on Sunday, four of its crew members were missing.

The INS emphasizes there's no reason to believe the four Pakistani nationals have an criminal intent. In fact, they checked out fine when the ship came into port.

But in a post 9/11 world, local authorities have been given their photos and descriptions. The photos are not being made available to the public. We want to emphasize that these men are not wanted for anything at this point beyond immigration issues.

It seems like fox is always the first to cover issues like this. Do they have better connections that the other news networks. This seems to be a pretty serious issue, if not as an immediate threat than as symbol of another INS failure, and I appreciate their rapid response to present the issue. I guess thats why I switched to fox.

The way this looks so far,the INS agent granting only 4 passes to a crew that 19 were Pakistani looks like this was planned.The INS agent should be arrested and at the very least he could be easily fired then.I doubt seriously the 4 Pakistani men are still in the area.

These guys are on the Terrorist watch list??? When did that become known? Did INS know about it when they came in last week? Did they know about that when they gave them permission to leave the ship for the weekend? Did they know about that when they started telling us here in Tidewater that they had no reason to believe these guys were dangerous??

This is great...we have the Roosevelt and it's battle group coming in next week and a bunch of Paki muslim nut jobs running around. (and don't anybody give me that loose lips line...the Roosevelt's arrival is public knowledge)
