I'd like to ask my fellow freepers to please be in prayer this weekend and especially on Monday morning at 8:00 Pacific time. My wife and daughter are having their official INS interview at that time, for their Green Card to stay in the United States. They came here from Canada in time for Christmas, 2000, and their paperwork was filed last summer. I know that God is in control, and that He wants this wonderful little family to stay together, but I very much covet your prayers. You can imagine what a tense thing this is for me. I have an incredibly sweet wife, and the cutest and sweetest 11 year old daughter you've ever seen.
Thanks for your prayers, folks. It means a lot to me. And they mean EVERYTHING to me.

If you can't get them across the Northern border, try the Southern one.

Heavenly Father, you turn the heart of the king. All authority under heaven comes from You. We pray for this family that they might stay together. We pray according to Your love, mercy, according to Your desire to see families secure and intact; we pray according to Your justice for this family which has played by the rules and is seeking permission to stay in the US legally...We pray that You would go before them in this INS interview process, and that You would glorify Yourself by wiping away all opposition, or doubts, or technicalities which might prevent this mother and daughter from obtaining the permit to stay in this great country of our's, the nation which is under God, and blessed by You. As you give us Your Holy Spirit that we might have the mind of Christ in these matters, I declare that this request seems right in our spirits. Calm the hearts of this family as they surrender the situation to You, and may they see Your grace towards them at work in this situation. And may we all have reason to rejoice together next week. In your Son's name, Amen.

Well, I pray they will fall on the right agent. Let us put it this way: if they want to nail them, they can do it any time on any suspicious answer. However, like most government certification interviews and exams, intelligent agents will genraly look to see if some basic key requirements and corroborations make any sense. After they get this reassurance, they won't look up the details much. Others though are real pain in the arse.
Ironicaly my interviews went best when I did it alone without the help of a lawyer. Lawyers are a real pain and often in bed with the INS for favors. So usualy they end up being so accomodating they end up making your case look bad. At least that was the case for me. My lawyer was getting yelled at by the INS officer and I had actualy to step in and defend her: pathetic.

Thank you, 2Cents, that is beautiful. And thanks to all the rest :))) You're appreciated more than you know.

Lawyers are a real pain and often in bed with the INS for favors. Fortunately, I think we've got a very good one. He's older, been the president of various Immigration Lawyer Associations, and seems a genuinely good guy that wants to help us.
Bottom line is that it's in God's hands - He can pull ANYTHING out of the fire. And honestly, I don't really see any problems with this. It's been a real pain putting all the paperwork and physicals and everything else together, but I think we'll be fine. ESPECIALLY with a solid covering of prayer from you folks.
Thanks again!!!
