We'll see how long this lasts...

2 days. AND the GOPer's get destroyed in the press in the pansy process
To: Oldeconomybuyer
Won't last and I'm not sure it should. The media will just portray them as obstructionists. The solution is to take back the senate. We also need to harp constantly on how the dimwit senate is blocking Bush's agenda, etc.

Gee...I do not think the Democrats acted this way when the Republicans delayed and denied Clintons nominations...Damn if we do not get our God-given way, we will not play with you and go home...

Three shut-down Senate Committees?
(to paraphrase): Safe at last! Safe at last!

Wow. The Repubs managed to delay the Dems for a whole day! Of course, tomorrow it'll be Dem steamrolling as normal. I'm wicked impressed.

What rock have you been under? Enjoy your day in the sun....come January all branches are belong to us. See, I do not understand the "poor us" and "death to Democrats" mentality of the conservative movement. They have control of the USSC, the White House, The House of Represenitives, and the media... at yet you (conservatives) bitch when the Senate does not allow a nomination to go through...how much power and control do you want?

Republicans say the measure would unfairly restrict companies, which would stop making matching contributions or even offering the voluntary 401(k) plans. I really hate when our side makes silly arguments like this. Corporations do not offer matching contributions and 401 (k) plans out of the goodness or their hearts. They do it to be competitive in the job market and attract the best candidates. A comprehensive benefits package is the best recruitment tool they have.

Congress is out for recess week of 25th, couldn't GW go on TV that week and lay things out for the American people - then conclude it by announcing various recess appointments?
If he states his case to the people and explains everything in simple terms, he can pre-empt the Demoncrats backlash.
Apoint a slew of Judges that the Dems have been dragging thier feet on, then leave it to the Dems to worry about damage control.

Do you truly believe the media is conservative? You must be so far to the left that you're off the scale.

Chester's belated hissy fit. He'd be more effective beating L'il Tommy over the head with his pom-pons.

The MEDIA? One lousy cable news station and a couple of smaller newspapers is control of the media?
As opposed to NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, Wash. Post, LA Times, NY Times, AP, Rueters, I mean this list is almost endless.
Where do you people come up with this stuff?
And the USSC is split, at best.

They have control of the USSCIf conservatives had control of the USSC, Roe vs. Wade would be only a memory.
To: alarma_da
Yes, the mainstream media is constently harping about how the solutions to our problems revolve around limited government, second amendment rights, individual responsibility, the free exchange of ideas, strict constitutionalism, et al.
The media never tries to encourage political correctness, government largess, higher taxes, the nanny state, gun control, statism, abortion.../end sarcasm
What color is the sky on your planet?

They have control of the USSC, the White House, The House of Represenitives, and the media...
First - by "they" I assume you mean the Republicans, not conservatives. In case no one has told you, the two are not necessarily the same.
Second - The Republicans do not control the USSC. You liberals (I am taking you for a liberal, please accept my apology if you are a thinking person) are still bleating this lie. Yes, I know, they upheld the law as written and stopped the Demoncrats from continuing to count until they dislodged enough chads to elect Algore. But there are only three real conservatives on the USSC (Scalia, Thomas and Rhenquist), plus two who can sometimes be counted on to actually read the law and the Constitution. That is hardly control.
Third - The media control lie is really laughable and shows that you are so far left that you are hopeless. Fox News is SLIGHTLY to the right, but ABCNBCCBSCNNMSNBCCNBC are all to the left, some way to the left. Most major newspapers are to the left as well. But, to use a baseball analogy, if you are standing on the left field line, everyone looks as if they are in right field.
Go peddle your foolishness somewhere else. Or stay here and see who listens (this is a fairly free forum). Just don't expect the thinking people on this forum to buy your laughable statements.
By the way it is the House of Representatives. I suggest that you either learn to spell or use a spell checker. Or maybe read the Constitution, as it is spelled correctly in there, too.
