WASHINGTON - Marie Ragghianti, a Tennessee corruption fighter whose crusading story spawned a book and a movie, is battling to maintain her reputation amid new revelations in the Roger Clinton pardon scandal. Ragghianti made headlines in the late '70s when she blew the whistle on a cash-for-pardons scheme hatched by top aides to Tennessee governor Roy Blanton.

"I find it a little ironic that at this stage in my career I'm accused of protecting someone, because that's not who I'm about," she said
If this quote is accurate I find it very interesting.

In a way, I pity her....getting involved with the Clintons. She was too naive to know the consequences.

Isn't an important part of this story omitted? Wasn't Senator Fred Thompson her attorney back in the seventies when her reputation as a whistle blower was turned into the movie? And didn't Senator Thompson play himself in the movie, thus launching his acting career?
Shouldn't those facts have been included in this story?"

An apt description.

If we could only come up with a medical cure for this menacing "disease."

..........she thought the FBI was trying to trap Roger Clinton in a "witch hunt" she
suspected was linked to independent counsel Ken Starr's investigation of the president. Outrageous. Roger is the culprit but she fingers Ken Starr. Reeks with the stench of of big brother Bill's spin.
Next time, Marie, "Don't think." Just do your job.

I sure wouldn't want to be Roger, holding $50,000 in Gambino money, without any results. I mean, I surely don't want to suggest any retribution is in order, but if I were the Gambino family........................???

"Poor Marie" made me think of this song by Sheryl Crow.....(a lover of all things Clinton, BTW)
"Oh Marie"
Here she comes, she's all dressed up in daises
Half the time, you'd swear that she is crazy
Flowered drinks and low-cut dress
That's the way I know her best
She says she's lonely, how could she be?
Every night she's got company
[Chorus]
Oh Marie,
I sure hope you're happy
Oh Marie,
What about me, Marie
She likes the way she looks in her Camaro
She likes lingerie but he prefers the sombrero
She's so famous on the block
She stumbles home around four o'clock
She claims the guys are hard to please
She wears teen perfume behind her knees
[Chorus]
All day long she fills me up with dogma
She's all magazines and benzedrine and vodka
There was one man she truly loved
He took everything but her bear-skin rug
And now and then it's clear to me
That need is love and love is need
[Chorus]
Always an open door
What are you looking for
