I'm probably the wrong one to ask. Although I was born 5 miles from Boston, my family moved to the more conservative NH when I was 9 years old. Many people have done the same which is why Southern NH has been one of the fastest growing parts of the country in the past 15 years.
MA is essentially a one party state with an occasional Republican voted in for Gov. while NH is the opposite. NH still has a strong Republican party and the races are closely fought in most years. Unfortunately, some of the people moving in from more heavily taxed states has made NH gradually more left-leaning in the past 20 years. They are used to big-government and that's what they vote for, not realizing smaller government makes for lower taxes. (DUH!)
Also, to make matters worse, the City of Boston and the state of MA have had problems with corruption, nepotism, the Mob and since my father's side of the family arrived there (late 1890's) and probably before that.
This is coming from a born and bred Utahan who claims Idaho as his home State.
