On Limbaugh's show yesterday and today there has been a discussion of whether Bush has been conservative enough. Perhaps it would be good to have a discussion on what he has done:
In the conservative category--
1) He passed tax cuts
2) He has handled the war well
3) He has ncreased defense spending
4) He has supported social security privatization
5) He has pushed for a missile shield
In the non-conservative category--
1) He has done little to change immigration to keep us safe.
2) He has abandoned vouchers
3) He has signed a bill for record federal spending on education
4) He has supported affirmative action in court
5) He is for granting amnesty to illegal aliens
6) He appears to be in favor of signing campaign finance
7) His support for Israel has gone from cold to warm to cold again
8) His signing the airport security bill (federalizing employees)
9) His support of steel tariffs
10) His refusal to go after Clinton's corruption in any way
But, on the other hand, I think it IS reasonable to expect that a republican do things more in the conservative category than the non. He's still better than ANY democrat, but I still can't help but a feel a bit dispappointed.
Anyone with anything to add, or subtract, dispute, flame et al. Please feel free.
We are currently in the midst of a complex and difficult diplomatic campaign. I turn to the western democracies, first and foremost the leader of the free world, the United States. Do not repeat the dreadful mistake of 1938, when the enlightened democracies of Europe decided to sacrifice Czechoslovakia for the sake of a temporary, convenient solution. Don't try to appease the Arabs at our expense. We will not accept this. Israel will not be Czechoslovakia. Israel will fight terror. There's no difference between 'good terror' and 'bad terror' just as there is no difference between 'good murder' and 'bad murder.' Terrorism, as we witnessed this week in Alei Sinai, is worse than murder."
Sharon was right.
If they really cared for the Palestinians they would have offered them some land from their own countries.
Tax cuts? tax cuts for campaign contributors and the dead is not conservative - reducing the size of government is. Not really much accomplished is there?
Nice job on the warfront, though.
SCOTUS.
You're right. It's not. What it is, though, is a good start.
BTW, which campaign contributor got a tax break that I didn't?
Regarding vouchers, the House gave him vouchers, the Senate wouldn't. Elect a GOP Senate and you have vouchers signed into law.
Regarding Israel, not everything Israel does is holy. They used to have a leader who was put into office with the help of serpent-head Carville for goodness sakes! They're economic socialists over there. They also have strayed from surgical strikes and are just doing what Arafat has been doing. You can respect Israel without respecting its actions-- much like the Presidency and Clintoon.
Bush is in favor of giving extensions to families while they renew their visas if they pay a fine for being late. What evidence do you have that he is in favor of complete amnesty?
Contrast him with Clinton, who pretended to be all things to all people, but in reality was only interested in himself.
A SCOTUS appointment could dramatically tip the balance of my calculations.
Since the American Nazi Party fell out of the spotlight
The traditional American foriegn policy is to stay of conflicts that do not invovle us. If being conservative is upholding tradition, therefore, American support of Israel is anything but conservative.
I thought we learned something as a nation from the Axis of Evil in WWII.

I agree. Although, I am relieved that Bush abondoned the voucher program. It's good to know that while the public schools are a total failure at least the private schools won't be 'forced' to venture into the same field of failure.
