Anyone who think's Howard's wild these days needs to listen to Opie and Anthony...LOL.

Heard Opie & Anthony via Real Player on WCKG Chicago's website. Thought they were OK, although the name "Opie" irritates me, as it was the name of the principal character on the most annoying "classic" television show being rerun on TV Land.

BTW: If "Mayberry" was such a wholesome slice of Middle America, how come there were rarely any married couples on the show?

BS. Everyone in town knows he was running around on her. It even made the papers.

The NASCAR folks in Bristol should take advantage of this publicity. If Scott doesn't show up (which I think he won't) the NASCAR announcer should say something like:

"We would like to thank all you guys out there who, unlike the P-Whipped Scott the Engineer, had the cojones to show up at this race."

BTW, I think a Scott the Engineer P-Whipped song done in country music or bluegrass style is in order.

I can certainly understand if Howard isn't your cup of tea. He isn't for everyone. I would also agree that your characterization of Howard's behavior as "unseemly" is more than fair. There is also no denying that Howard is a boss from H-E-double hockey sticks.

HOWEVER...Anyone who knows about Scott the Engineer will agree with me when I say that guy is a first class loser. He takes no pride in his work, or himself. He meekly accepts Howard's regular abuse like a whipped dog, and apparently does the same thing at home. Upon witnessing his utter lack of self-respect, one develops a visceral hostility for him. While it may not be very nice, I find myself taking guilty pleasure in his humiliation.

Me too. Perhaps this will be a wake-up call for Scott. BTW, Scott even has that weird catch in his voice that they make fun of because it is reflective of his whole sense of defeat. Gary even said that Scott's very body language is indicative of someone who is utterly defeated from the get-go. Even if Scott left his wife, he would still end up with another wife who would slap him down.

ummm do you really care about all of this! LOL

anything to do with Stern is tainted - and he can't imagine someone probably staying married and respecting their spouse.

I hate to say it but I have a female cousin who reminds me a bit of Scott's wife. My cousin was a contestant in a Miss America contest and was tall and beautiful. However, she married some short plain guy who was a dentist. We wondered why she did that until we met the newlyweds. She had him totally under her thumb. The amount of humiliation she subjected him to was quite amazing. It was also hilarious to us younger relatives. Some of the funniest times my other cousins and I had was doing imitations of my cousin's husband being slapped down by his wife in numerous humiliations. Hey, that's one of the hazards of being P-Whipped. You allow yourself to be the butt of many jokes. I sort of feel sorry for my cousin's husband but, OTOH, he did provide me with lots of laughs.

Stern ain't for everybody, but he'd be a great guy to do appearances on. Ask George Pataki.

That is a seriously depressing story, my friend. What is the deal with your boy, that he puts up the abuse?

I can never understand the term "p-whipped". Frankly, I wouldn't dream of going without making sure my husband didn't mind. I don't see why checking with the wife makes one "whipped". In my mind, it merely makes one "considerate."

Why is this on FR? I'm tempted to hit the abuse button.

Because some of us Freepers like listening to Howard Stern, perhaps?

Some of us also enjoy eating spaghetti, but I don't start FR threads about it.

Stern is such a class act - humiliating his staff on national radio. what an example.

Yeah. It's not like they had no clue what they were getting into from the moment they applied for their jobs or anything.

What none of us understand is my friend's sudden transformation from a serial dating bachelor to gelded domestic serf. He made the switch within a matter of months. I suspect he was seeing all of us get married off and starting families and thought it the logical thing to do. Too bad he picked this particular woman. She's not pretty, publicly brags about her opinion of male-kind (we're all scum because her first husband was a jack ass; however, I ask this question: is she bitter because he was a jack ass or did he become a jack ass because she's bitter?). That stated, there remains hope for John. He's started drinking again and actually bad mouths her in her presence. We're all rooting for the lad to snap completely out of it.
