This isn't new news, but it's new to me because I just ran across it, and I wasn't able to find mention of it elsewhere on FR.
Schelske to Announce for Congress is Fifth District
"I hope to carry the Republican banner against Hooley" Please join Craig Schelske and his wife, Sara Evans, as he announces his candidacy for Oregon's Fifth Congressional District. Schelske will announce his campaign at Jefferson Elementary School, Jefferson, Oregon at 3:45 pm
Monday, October 15.
Schelske was born and raised in the Willamette Valley and his family has been farmed here for five generations. He is a pro-life conservative and supports Second Amendment rights. Craig has pledged to run a great campaign against current Congresswoman Darlene Hooley. "Darlene Hooley has been in office too long, voting against President Bush, tax cuts and making our government better and more efficient. It's time for us to send someone to Washington who will vote for some commonsense solutions for our problems." Craig's experience ranges from farming, manufacturing, construction, to managing a major recording artist, his wife Sara Evans. Because of his travels in the music industry, Craig has had the opportunity to talk to thousands of Americans across the country. Craig realizes and understands the need for strong leadership with an optimistic vision, a sense of rightness of purpose and the need for hope for the 5th District.
Craig has pledged to run a full time campaign. "This campaign is too important for us to be distracted, that's why I am going to be a candidate, every day from now until Election Day," he said. Craig holds a degree in International Business and Marketing from Oregon State University. Additionally, he is pursuing a Masters degree in Public Policy from Regent University in Virginia. Craig's wife Sara Evans is a major country-recording artist with RCA, "I have been blessed with a great wife and son. I have proud of them both, and Sara's career has given us many opportunities to see the world. But there is no place I would rather be than right here in Oregon." Craig and Sara are waiting for the results of the upcoming County Music Awards, where Sara has been nominated for seven awards. Along with their son Avery, Craig and Sara reside in the heart of the North Santiam Valley on a small farm.

Oregon District 5 was won by Bush 48.5-47.0 and Nader won 4.5%. He would have won the old OR-5 49-46.5, so it is slightly less Republican than before-- but it's still a toss-up demographically.
Schelske needs to tap that Nashville jack.
Could I ask where you got the Bush v. Gore voting stength for the NEW districts? Thanks in advance.
