Let's hope they get him. Otherwise he is liable to divorce her, remarry another unstable woman and have more children. BTW, I think he ought to swing along side Andrea.

"I was truly fearful a not-guilty verdict would create a spate of "post-partum" moms killing their kids."

Yep - that's just what "postpartum" moms have been waiting for is an OK from the judicial system to kill their kids.

can the jury, at the time they decide on 'future threat' take into account that the alternative to death is life in prison and therefore, she's unlikely to kill anyone else.

Probably. There was a recent US Supreme Court ruling where a South Carolina death sentence was successfully appealed. The grounds for the appeal were that the defendant's attorney had not been permitted to inform the jury (during the sentencing phase) that the only alternative to the death sentence was life in prison with no parole.

Way to Go, LS....he is at least as responsible as she is tho she actually committed the crime...Thank God they found her guilty. I could have taken care of her with my bare hands when I heard what she did to that 7 year old, Noah.

yeah, as for the husband, Russell Yates..he knew his wife was having problems, but he just couldn't manage to keep his pants zipped. So the babies kept coming. I hold him responsible as well...and we don't know what was going on behind the scences between the two, what the marriage was really like. The whole situation is so disgusting to me.There is just something not right about the husband IMHO.

FREEP this poll: Do you support the jury's verdict to find Andrea Yates guilty of capital murder?

Interesting. I think you answered my question. But these cases are SO factual. I have no knowledge of death penalty law. I imagine it's as full of nuances as 4th amendment law.

Well, I do like the fact that you're a Texan. Would you have voted to convict Yate?

I moved back. I have a great great grandfather who was a Texas Ranger. My Grandmother and all her sisters are burried in Pioneer, TX. This isn't a trek across the country. This is home.
