Massachusetts denies most basic rights
Telegram & Gazette ^ | 3/11/02 | KENNETH B. SHERMAN

I had to laugh at the letter from Larry Calihan, “Restraining orders deny men rights” (Telegram & Gazette, March 1). Mr. Calihan is upset that a restraining order issued against a man by a vengeful wife temporarily brands the man a criminal without due process.

I belong to a group that is systematically treated far worse. I am not permitted to move without first sending notification by registered mail to the police chief of my old town, to the police chief of my new town and to the state (something the state Supreme Judicial Court has ruled is unconstitutional even if applied to convicted sex offenders). Public figures have repeatedly called for my imprisonment. I am required to stay registered with the Massachusetts Division of Criminal Records. I am routinely denied access to public facilities. Private businesses can, and do, refuse to do business with me, branding me “dangerous to the public.”

What did I do? I am a lawful gun owner in Massachusetts.

So, to anyone who has been similarly denied their most basic rights by the commonwealth, I say, “Welcome to the club.” Massachusetts is systematically stripping the rights from individuals who it deems to be politically incorrect. If you smoke, own a motorcycle, private boat or like Big Macs, perhaps you're next.

How can I respect anyone who puts up with that crap? If a dog pees on a man who just stands there, who deserves more respect -- the man, or the dog?

If I insisted on living in a commie State like that (for whatever goofy reason), I'd build my own zip gun with a silencer and .........may God have mercy on any attacker, 'cause I sure wouldn't!

Easy answer: Move. The longer people remain in states like Mass and Calif and take this crap, the more they'll dish out. If you don't like the taste of a sh*t sandwich, don't ask for seconds!

Ted Kennedy is still allowed to drive

He has different rights than commoners.
He's in the "ruling class".

I wonder when he'll insist on his right of "prima noctra"...
