Students put twist on mascots - The Fighting WHITIES

Indian students in Colorado have turned the tables in a debate on racism by naming their intramural basketball team "The Fighting Whities."

The students, at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, chose a white man as a mascot after failing to persuade nearby Eaton High School to drop a nickname they say offends them.

I assume they think that is supposed to offend the "whities" but I think it's hilarious. I'm not sure yet why Native Americans find it offensive to have their ancestors remembered as brave fighting warriors. As someone who has ancestors that fought in the Revolutionary War and for the Confederacy I can proudly say that I am proud to have a team named after my "Fighting Whities" heritage. :)

This kind of stuff actually hurts their cause because it shows how non-offensive it really is. There is WAY too many people around today just looking to be offended by something.

As an astute poster on another thread pointed out, white guys have already been accounted for by at least four or so teams:

COWBOYS: Oklahoma State, Wyoming

PATRIOTS: New England

Blonde-haired, blue-eyed CORNHUSKERS, NEBRASKA

And on and on...

And, I think instead of "Sensitivity" training the lame
among us request/require for the rest of us, they
ought to have "Durability" training to toughen them up some.

Politcal expedience... that's it. I remember when there was a sense of pride with these names.... then someone told us we should be offended. They also told us we should open casinos, more liquor stores and we should rely on free money instead of our own initiative... Other than that they sensitive people... ( Sarcasim)
