60,000 people attend right-wing rally in Tel Aviv's Rabin Square
By Mazal Mualam and Yam Yehoshua, Ha'aretz Correspondets

A mass rally attended by tens of thousands of right-wing demonstrators at Tel Aviv's Rabin Square on Monday night ended peacefully. Police estimate that the rally, held under the slogan "A strong nation will defeat terror," and causing traffic jams in central Tel Aviv, was attended by 50,000 to 60,000.
Present at the rally were leading figures from the right of the Israeli spectrum, but organizers decided not to invite politicians to address protestors. Among those speaking at the rally were former IDF general Shmulik Arad, Brigadier General Effi Fein and singer Ariel Zilber, as well as prominent figures from the settler movement.
Brigadier General (res.) Efi Eitam called on Prime Minister Ariel Sharon to be "a true Lion of Judah. If you are, the nation will be at your side."
"We have gathered here tonight," added Eitam, "to ask the people of Israel to gather their strength for a tough struggle. Now is the time to tell the whole world what we are fighting for and why."
Some 1,600 security guards, including Border Police, mounted police and Civic Guard volunteers, were on duty for the rally. Magen David Adom and the fire department also had crews on stand-by.

I'll wager that a good many of the attendees were former left-wing Israelis finally waking up to a hard reality. A similar phenomenon occurred here after the 9/11 attacks. Nice to see that liberal education does not permanently dull the sensibilities of everyone who is initially suckered in by liberal fantasies.

The signs say: It's all because of OSLO! Bring the OSLO criminals to court!

Interesting...The Jerusalem Post article said there were 100,000 people there, and I'd trust their estimate far more than that of Haaretz.
