Former Illinois Atty. Gen. Roland Burris and U.S. Rep. Rod Blagojevich are locked in a virtual tie for the Democratic nomination for governor while Atty. Gen. Jim Ryan maintains a significant advantage over his two rivals in the Republican primary contest, a new Tribune/WGN-TV poll shows.
With little more than a week remaining until the election, the final Tribune/WGN-TV poll of the 2002 primary season shows the three-way Democratic race for governor to be growing exceedingly tight, with former Chicago Public Schools chief Paul Vallas trailing slightly but still very much in the mix.
