"It's no secret the community is outraged by her actions," Mr. Alpert said.
"This defendant has friends who helped her cover up the crime."

Uh........... exactly WHICH community is outraged????

Is this like the MUSLIM community OUTRAGED over the WTC 'incident'?

Black rule, anyone? Look to how they treat each other when they have their own country. Look to Africa.

The latest from AP (excerpt)

(Mallards attorney) called on Mallard's parents and one of her older brothers, a Fort Worth Fire Department lieutenant, to testify that she would not be a flight risk.

James E. Mallard Sr. cried on the stand, saying the family was hardworking, close-knit and attended church together. He said his daughter has been staying with him and his wife, Dorothy, since the arrest.

"We want to keep her there with us," he said.

But when questioned by prosecutors, Chante Mallard's relatives acknowledged they did not know her boyfriend or her friends and had not been to her house in months.

Her relatives also said they did not know exactly where Mallard worked and when, and why she had at least three jobs in three years.

"It's evident her family cares about her, but they don't know her," Alpert told the judge.

Chante Mallard's police booking photo is shown March 8, 2002 after she was arrested for hitting a homeless man with her car and then driving home with the man impaled in her windshield last October, 2001. Police then say Mallard left the man and car in her garage where he died later. REUTERS/Jeff Mitchell

I'd like the authorities to find the low-lifes who are intimidating this witness. They are as bad as Chante!

I sure hope this does NOT become a "race" thing. I was just as outraged when I thought the homeless man was black, and the nurses aid was some white party girl. Now that I know the races are reversed, it doesnt, it just CANT bother me any more or less.

The informant is a hero. Someone should take care of her. She did the right thing.

Her last name is Mallard -- her mother's last name is Ballard?

I'm not sure how they could offer this woman ANY bail at all, given that she has clearly demonstrated that she has no regard whatsoever for other human beings.

Before this lady can be accused of a crime, we need to check her "victim status points" and compare it to those of the poor fellow sticking out of her windshield.

Let's see, she's black (+1), female (+1), fat (+1). She has a total of three victim status points.

Let's check the fellow she hit. He's homeless ( +1), mentally ill (+1). We're catching up. But wait - HE'S A WHITE MALE - MINUS TEN POINTS. That gives him negative eight points for a victim status.

Since she has more victim points, no crime has been committed here. It was just an accident, caused by a homless person with poor judgement. She will need many hours of therapy for post traumatic stress syndrome caused by this incident (payable in full by the taxpayers) </sarcasm off>

A woman who claims she was so frightened she would not call for help is also frightened enough to be a flight risk.I think it is absolutely silly to even consider bail.Home incarceration, electronic monitor, this is preferential treatment for a female/minority.HOME IS WHERE SHE COMMITTED THE MURDER!

I don't want to see this woman go to jail. Instead, she should be impaled on a windshield for a couple of days, with people coming in to gawk at her periodically, and then stitched up and let free, hopefully having learned what "empathy" is.

death threats

The stupid murdering bitch should think twice about dishing out death threats, whether in person or by proxy. She is the one who is restricted to the house. Anyone who wants to get revenge for the poor murdered man won't have a hard time finding her. Maybe there will be an accidental fire at her place and the fire department will be to busy to get there in time.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Obviously, there is a new sport in Texas. Blacks get tanked on booze and ecstasy, then get behind the wheel and attempt to kill whites with their cars.

It's a swell game, and lots of fun!

You get 10 points for simply bouncing a victim off the fender. If he dies instantly you lose 50 points since the point of the game is create an agonizing and painful death that takes days to happen.

It's a 100 point bonus if you are able to levitate the victim's body across the hood at impact and smash him part way through the windshield. There's a 500 point bonus if you stop by the local liquor store for some Kools and Colt 45 Malt Liquor before driving home and locking the poor unfortunate devil in your garage.

An appropriate fate for Chante (just love that name, kind of suggests a Voodoo high priestess) would be to let the victim's family hit her at high speed on a Forth Worth freeway, lodge her in the windshield and take her home and lock her in THEIR garage. If she survives, she goes free. If she dies, well, tough luck.

For an encore, they might want to consider running down her lawyer who seems to thinks that this is much ado about nothing.

The informant did the right thing and the people threatening her are just as evil as the woman who let the guy die in her garage.

Ms. Mallard, a nurse's aide who was fired Thursday after the murder charge became public, sobbed in the courtroom and continually dabbed her eyes with a tissue before sheriff's deputies led her away.

I suppose this latest emotional reaction is better than giggling...
