I loved Star Wars, until Episode 1. Ep. 2 looks like Titanic in Space. I'm not going unless there's a Lord of the Rings: Two Towers trailer attached.

Like a lot of kids in the '70s, I was a big Star Wars fan. When Episode One came out a few years ago, I meant to go see it, but I figured I'd wait until the crowds thinned out. When the word-of-mouth wasn't great, I never bothered to see it in the theater. When FOX-TV aired it on a Sunday night a few months ago, I figured that I'd give it a shot...
What a bore! The Jar-Jar critter was every bit as annoying as everyone had said, and the kid who played Anakin was one of the worst child actors I've ever seen. His whiny, monotone delivery was almost comical. After about 50 minutes, I switched the channel over to "60 Minutes" to see what Andy Looney had to say. I never bothered to switch back.

I say the Mother is killed and that's what sends him over the edge to becoming Darth Vader

GOOD FOR YOU!

My theory is:
Anakin becomes a superb Jedi pupil and a pilot for the Republic. During some battle (assuming it's against the "Clones") his fighter crashes, horribly disfiguring him to the point he can only live in that body suit, conveniently provided by Senator Palpatine. That, combined with the death of his mother, drives him over the edge.

Actually, he goes nuts when it turns out that Amidala is male. I've had to sit through the current trailer several times for other movies, and at one point Obi-Wan says that Amidala is "a politician, a man not to be trusted."

I have been anxiously awaiting the release of this movie! I was devastated that it wasn't released last year, as I thought was the original plan. Unlike many other Star Wars fans, I really enjoyed Episode I. While it was different than the the original 3 I thought it was wonderful. I guess I mentally cast it as being set in a different time and it seemed somehow appropriate that it be different. I really enjoyed the special effects too. Granted, there was not the magnificent character development that so defined Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi but in a way, the cold, technological emphasis seems that it could serve as a good backdrop for the intensely human qualities that seem so apparent in Episode II based on the previews I have seen. In my case, Episode I also served to bring in a third generation of Star Wars fans as it was the first movie my grandson ever saw, and loved at just under 2 years old.

Well I'm going to the Star Wars Fan Convention in Indy in May, and I am going to see the movie at Midnight like I did with Episode 1. I like seeing sneak previews pictures but I don't want any spoilers.

How can there be spoilers when we already know how the story ends?

Yet another theory:
Anakin tries to work a deal with the Bad Guy(s) to serve them (somehow) if they free his mother and it backfires.

Saw the trailer this morning! Most of the
TheForce.net staff got first crack at it. It is STUNNING!!! If your favorite Star Wars movie has been "The Empire Strikes Back" 'til now, "Attack Of The Clones" will raise the bar on that... it's THAT good! Just judging by the trailer 'course ;-)
Best scene: the clone army attacks, with a vehicle VERY similar to the AT-ATs!

Actually from the original novel of ROTJ Obi Wan tells Luke that he pushed Anakin in a firey pit or something like that.
And to JenB it isn't going to be a romantic film it is going to be more like Empire Strikes Back with a lot of action scenes (clonetroopers, Palpatine and the new villain with a cool lightsaber Count Dooku)
