Re: Your #26: Well-said. Couldn't agree more.

Only reason why I still keep my Hunt for Red October DVD is Sean Connery and that Tom Clancy wrote it. Other then that, my house is Baldwinless.

I still can't belive that this puke actually played Jack Ryan in the movie based on Tom Clancy's The Hunt for Red October. I mean it makes me want to puke! How could Clancy have approved of that casting??!! I mean, Jack Ryan is a patriot. Talk about being miscast.

BTW -- re: the "sit-in," mentioned in above article. Here's a STATEMENT OF GOV. JEB BUSH:
IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Justin Sayfie
Wednesday, January 19, 2000
(850) 488-5394
STATEMENT OF GOVERNOR BUSH REGARDING AGREEMENT WITH SENATOR MEEK AND REPRESENTATIVE HILL
TALLAHASSEE - For the past 24 hours, Senator Kendrick Meek and Representative Anthony Hill occupied the personal office of Lt. Governor Frank Brogan, to demand that Governor Bush rescind his Executive Order implementing the One Florida Initiative. After many hours of intense discussions, Senator Meek and Representative Hill have agreed to withdraw their demand and have voluntarily removed themselves from Lt. Governor Brogan's office.
While I am disappointed that Senator Meek and Representative Hill chose to raise their concerns with the One Florida Initiative in this manner, I am pleased that we have been able to reach an agreement ending their "sit-in" in a peaceful and dignified way. Under the agreement, Chancellor Adam Herbert and the Board of Regents have agreed to postpone consideration of One Florida's Equity in Education Plan until February 17, 2000, in order to allow for further public discussion about its likely effect on minority student enrollment in Florida's colleges and universities.
The agreement also calls for a series of three legislative hearings, in Tallahassee, Tampa and Miami, to discuss fully aspects of the One Florida Initiative that may require legislative action. These hearings are in addition to those held in December, at which members of my staff and the Lieutenant Governor testified. I have also met again with members of the Black Caucus and other interested legislators to continue the statewide dialogue about steps we can take to preserve and increase diversity in state hiring and contracting, and in our higher education system.
Senator Meek and Representative Hill have promised to provide me with their written comments and recommendations about the One Florida Initiative by January 28th. I look forward to receiving their comments and recommendations, and those of other citizens with an interest in this issue. I will also continue reaching out to Floridians from all walks of life to listen to their views and to share my vision of diversity and opportunity with fairness.
The Governor's Office belongs to the citizens of Florida. As I stated previously, I will never allow it to be used again as a vehicle for this type of protest, no matter what the cause. I nevertheless accept the public apology issued by Senator Meek and Representative Hill for the inconveniences caused by their actions, and I hope that reasonable people, particularly those who hold the public trust as elected officials, can always seek reasonable forums for public discourse on matters of mutual concern.
Ironically, the sit-in waged by Senator Meek and Representative Hill comes at the same time that we learned the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights has found the One Florida Initiative fully consistent with Florida's historic federal/state civil rights partnership agreement. This welcomed action by the Clinton/Gore administration suggests that the truth about One Florida's positive impact is beginning to shine through. I remain committed to sharing that truth with all Floridians.
I also remain focused on the attainable goal of more minorities in Florida's colleges, more minorities contracting with State government, and more diversity in government and the judiciary.

Nobody voted for Alec Baldwin's opinion. This whole get-together was supposed to be to protest ONE FLORIDA....a program which everyone seems to like, and one that seems to be working. When you get right down to it...he is protesting the idea that Black people in Florida should have equal rights...that they be treated as any other self reliant human being. His pro-slavery liberalism is uglier than his bloated face.
