Her name is not in circulation right now, although I personally think she would be absolutely ideal. However, the thinking among her and many citizens of TN, and probably all too accurate, is that she's needed in the state right now more than in Washington. She's been the beacon and the bugle call that's kept an income tax out of TN so far. Literally, but for her alerting the media about a
secret late-night vote last July 12th, that resulted in a headline-making massive protest at the capitol, Tennessee would have an income tax today.
I would imagine she's inclined to stay a state legislator, even though she would increase her income by nearly tenfold. She's one of those rare politicians who believe in this crazy notion that she's there to serve and represent her constituents. The truth is, she's needed here more than she's needed there.

BTT.....notice how since now that Bredesen is committed to the governor's race...he's out. I don't see any other Dem who could win statewide right now...not even Gore. Lamar is the most likely successor to Fred. I will miss Fred greatly.

Isn't this Marsha Blackburn a big supporter of Governor Don Sundquist? I thought Sundquist was on the outs with republicans and conservatives. Blackburn's website doesn't give her positions on the issues.
Is Blackburn in favor of tax reform and does she support President Bushes tax cuts? Is she pro-life or pro-choice? Does she support CFR? What's her position on education and national defense? Does she support special rights for homosexual?
Inquiring conservative minds want to know!

While I agree with most of your assessment...you failed to mention that 2 of the largest per capita Republican contributing zip codes in the Eastern US are parts of metro Nashville....37205(Belle Meade) and Brentwood. 37215 where I live is in the top ten as well. Nashville has the usual cabal of urban black and yuppie liberals as well as Vandy commies but most middle class and up whites in the greater Nashville area vote Conservative. The only reason Nashville has a liberal mayor is because it was a 3 way race.

Oh yes! The everready bankbooks of the internationalist, Goals 200, Do we really have to pay attention to social issues?, polo club Republicans are ready to give us that aging Howdy Doody on steroids LAMAR!!!! Well, at least it isn't State Income Tax Sunsquish.
To: Kaisersrsic
H! NO! After his pushing an INCOME TAX NO one in their right mind would vote for him.

I agree with you. Fred is leaving in part I think because he is not a Bush man. He supported McCain in the primaries and the campaign finance reform. It looks like all anti-Bush Republicans are getting out (Thompson/Helms/Armey/maybe McCain) to be replaced by Bush loyalists like (E.Dole & Alexander) - both worked for Bush Sr.
Lamar is too liberal for me. I consider him the ultimate RINO. He ran around with Al Gore last fall like a puppy dog. He also has plenety of dirty laundry as you can see here: Lamar Alexander's Skeleton Closet
To: Reagan Man
Where did you get that Marsha Blackburn is a supporter of Don Sundquist? I think if Sundquist could find a constitutional way to do it, he would have Marsha thrown in prison, and vice versa. Although in Sundquist's case, it would be justified.

I remember people talking about Congressman Ford running for the senate. This is a stupid question - but is Ford of mixed race? I see him on Fox a lot. Just curious.

Jeffords turn was so monumental and pivotal that yes he is indeed a traitor. I'm waiting to see those milk pork barrels yanked...gleefully.

If Ed changes his mind and runs for the Senate instead of Gov, does this mean we get stuck with Tax and Spend Jim Henry for our GOP canidate? I'm NOT voting for Henry, NO WAY NO HOW!

Marsha Blackburn is Sundquist's No. 1 Foe. She is the primary force in the State Senate against the Income Tax.
Marsha supports the President's tax cuts.
Marsha is definitely Pro-Life.
Marsha does not support special rights for anyone.

Bryant will not sell statewide and has low name ID ratings. Alexander a much better shot.

You're right and thankfully the great Yankee immigration waves into Nashville the past 10 years seem to be mostly conservative.
To: TwoBear
Unless he has a horrible accident, the next governor of TN will be Phil Bredesen ....thanks to Taxquist.

JR. is a smooth operator...he's not the moderate dem he poses to be. PURE LIBERAL party liner from what I see. So far his families fingers in the State till have not stuck on him. Believe me his family has lots of skeletons in it's closet where that is concerned. Daddy's fingers are in the TennCare till right now. http://www.gomemphis.com/mca/local_news/article/0,1426,MCA_437_1020031,00.html

But you always think that liberals are slam-dunk winners whether its California, Tennessee or your own state of New Hampshire. Just where DO you draw the line and say to RINOs: Enough is enough!
To: Inspectorette
No offense dear....but your admiration for little Ford seems grounded in feminine affection and emotive reasoning. He comes from a vile vile family regardless of his cuteness and charisma.....he just seems moderate compared to his tribe: Black Urban Dem Race Hustlers.
