[history]
A simple one-page resolution expressing the Senate's support for U.S. military forces in Afghanistan was on hold yesterday while Democrats wrestled with its language.
"The Senate stands united with the president in the ongoing effort to destroy Al Qaeda," states a draft of the resolution that Democrats were seeking to change.

Resolution: Let's Roll.
See how easy these things are to write? They're only hard to write if you are trying to include a personal CYA, and think that piddling around with soldier's lives is OK when done for politics and political correctness.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick J. Leahy, Vermont Democrat, was said to be interested in toning down the resolution. No doubt Leahy wanted to include a sentence or two about guaranteeing the terrorists here in the U.S.A. "civil rights protection" and a warning that support for the administration does not include support for the rule of law on the domestic front. And he wanted to include a "sense of the Senate" notion that John Ashcroft is a racist. Senator Byrd concurred.

Not so easy when you don't really believe in the President and the war effort

Lyndon Johnson must be spinning in his grave... on a bbq spit in hell!

"This is too serious a matter," he said. Give me a freaking break. This is not serious at all. It's purely political. Screw the Democrats.
To: arielb
They'd believe in it if it raised their chances for reelection. Well, some wouldn't even then, but most are just concerned with their own power, even if it costs lives. A few would be pleased to see a disaster if they thought it would improve their chances at the polls... I am confident that Leaky Leahy is one such critter.

Somehow, little Tommy was delighted with a president blowing up an aspirin factory, but he isn't happy with our military efforts in Afghanistan ? Methinks that little Tommy, et al nay sayers are going to push the American people ( sheeple included ) into startling awakedness. Then, the bovine excrement is going to hit the rotary wind machine. : - )

please, TINY TOM, keep talking...hold two, three, maybe four news interviews every day...we thank you now and if you keep jabbering, we will really thank you in November..keep up the good work
