Dr. Laura's show failed because she's a judgemental, hypocritical, old witch, not because of the gays.
Most people listen to her not to get her opinions, but to revel in the problems of others.
She resembles the TV sob-talk shows more than she does Rush, Liddy, et al.

To FourtySeven and nospinzone and Eric: I beg to differ that people who listen to Dr. Laura do so to "revel in other people's problems." I have been listening to her for years and her insight is remarkable. She bills herself as a "morals and ethics" show. She has never pretended to be a Rush, Liddy-type show. I will grant you that she is tough, impatient, and has an AWFUL laugh. However, if you listen enough you will discover her message is basically all about doing what's right -- especially regarding the welfare of children. She is against abortion, raising kids (deliberately) without fathers, and divorce (unless it breaks the covenant -- addictions, abuse, or adultery). She comes down strongly on the side or personal responsibility and "doing the right thing." These are typically conservative and family values. Not a bad message, IMHO.

Agreed. She's no better then all of those guys, feeding off people's problems, and making her audience feel better by putting them down, all cloaked in a false sense of "care" for the person.
She makes me sick. But I don't deny her her right to do it; when I start doing that, I might as well start supporting CFR.
