(Los Angeles) - On the day of one of the most hotly-contested primaries in history, Republicans are being told to stand in line in order to exercise their right to vote. This is because many precincts have more voting booths set up for Democrats than for Republicans. Sometimes up to four times as many!

That scares me. Did he/she try to do it to others? I think I'd stand back and watch to see what he/she does. It's getting to the point where I don't trust anyone who assumes a position of power. changed locations of polling places.
overlaid new precincts.
my location was seven to two Dem/Rep booths with seven republican voters and NOT A SINGLE Democrat other than the ladies behind the tables (who were also complaining).
The stylus in my booth was on too short a lead to reach the lower quarter of the ballot.

This followed a blitz of democrat advertisements showing warm fuzzy images (firemen, pretty lady in wheel chair, etc) while showing faceless republicans roping and tieing up little kids and old folks....real good political debate.

The counties are all different. In my county, you get a ballot and a marker and you go to any open booth and mark your ballot. In punchcard ballots, the booklets are bolted to the table with guide holes. You slide your ballot into the machine and when you flip the pages the guide holes line you up. They must have put many more Dem booths out there because of the imbalance of party affiliation out here.

There are many more Democrats than Republicans in CA, so yes, Democrats have more voting booths. I'm willing to wager plenty of $$$ that there are more Republican voting booths in Shasta County, CA, than 'rat booths.

In NY, we just go to an empty booth and push down switches.
If a switch is broken, opps! A few Lazio switches were broken, but no one did anything about it. No one really cared. Maybe they figured Hillary would win anyway.

Read the quote again. His comments indicate he's whining about having to wait in line to vote. He gives me the impression getting to work on time is more important than excersising his voting rights.

It's nobody's business how I vote, and if I can be observed while I go in a D or R booth, my privacy is violated.

Then you had better quit voting, because it's a matter of public record whether you cast a vote in a primary election or not and for which party.

One of the favorite things candidates do to dig up "dirt" on their opponent is to prove that they either voted Democrat in some earlier election, or didn't vote at all.

Poor babies. More Republicans are turning out to vote than democrats and these people are complaining. It's such a drag having to be inconvenienced when excercising your rights.

Don't the powers that be know that we have the right not to be inconvenienced? My GOD! We need a new constitutional amendment to enumerate this God given right!

Actually, while you are correct, this is a primary and supposedly this sort of thing is proper. The Republicans get one ballot and the democrats another.

I would suggest that primaries should not use state or federal resources at all in primary elections since this is merely the party members chosing who will represent them in the general election. Thus the parties whould be responsible for gathering the votes and should not use taxpayer funds in order to do this. It actually presents a conflict of interest between the government and the parties. In my view there is quite a good argument that the entire practice of handling primary elections in any official capacity is completely unconstitutional.

Only the general election should be handled by the State.
