Maybe the answer isn't married priests, but elevating some nuns to the priesthood.

Can't be done. The rule on married vs. celibate priests is something the Church could change if it chooses (St. Peter was married). But women cannot be ordained to the priesthood. After years of shrieking by advocates of women's ordination, the Church issued a definitive statement that it had no authority to deviate from the example set by Christ Himself, in ordaining only men. The issue is off the table.

If scripture doesn't allow women to become priests, that's fine...it can't happen (this is not the time to bend or reinterpret rules)

But couldn't nuns be given an expanded role in this time of crisis? The Boston archdiocese already had a shortage, and it would be foolhardy to loosen the standards for ordination at this time.

The thing is, the nuns are already there, and many of them can do whatever you ask of them...a lot are dedicated, intelligent, and religious women.
