What are we doing in these absolute hellholes like Afghanistan and Somalia, etc.? Young lives are being sacrificed to what end? Soldiers are dying due to equipt. failures (thanks Billy and Hilly), missions that seemingly have no purpose except to satisfy some U.N. freak that wants our military to be the policemen of the world and those in our gov't. that see our troops as modern day mercenaries for the oil lobby. As patriotic Americans many of us know what our duty is if OUR strategic interests are ever threatened but some of this idiocy scares me to death especially now when there's talk of a renewal of the draft.
"In Germany, they first came for the communists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Catholic. Then they came for me -- and by that time there was nobody left to speak up."

I honestly and sincerely hope these bastards have regrouped.
Forget the so-called "Afghan allies". They're an incompetent lot given to petty infighting. Tell 'em to stay the hell out of the way and let the professionals handle this. AC-130 gunships, air-to-mud ops, etc............that new combined force of bad guys will be soup within 24 hours.

Hey Dog, don't you think maybe those Afghans were running because they were TOLD ... I'm with you -- no responsible commander in the world would let his troops remain in an area where we were about to deploy BLU-82 and his playmates.
Plus, they'll need to re-equip with whisk brooms, when they go back into the area to mop up.

Your Churchill quote basically recaps the Mahan Doctrine of forward engagement.
Slick blew off Mahan, and we lost the World Trade Center as a result. I think Dubya has taken the lesson to heart.

the only good Taliban........is a dead Taliban!!! Makes perfect sense to me.

Ha ha,,I love the wisk broom image!! Now am I wrong or does it seem like maybe we can go in and look over the remains of the folks in the cave even tho they have popped eardrums and their large and small intestines have been sucked out into the open air? It makes me feel good to think about it. But are the bodies left so we can look for a long tall skinny one with a cashmere robe and a rolex.

Who or what is "Big Red"?
To: cajungirl
The story said elsewhere that Mullah Omar and Bin Laden are not thought to be in the area where the action is going on.
I suppose we could recognize him all right.
To: cajungirl
"Who or what is "Big Red"?" I made a mistake. I confused The 1st First Infantry Division--"The Big Red One"
With
The 101 Airborne--.."The Screaming Eagles"
This article is about the 101 Airborne, "Screaming Eagles."

Why? Are you draft age? Why are you trying to tie these American casualties to oil? Has 9-11 slipped your memory?
To: not-an-ostrich
He is hopeless I think. He is some relic of the 60's who is all in a knot with his anti-us feeling and probably got ahold of some bad weed. Plus he's been drinking coffee all day, probably is on the dole and is in a pissy mood. He forgot 911 already.

Just read 2 theromobaric bombs used on caves. First time used in Afganistan. Shipped over in December. Are these the bombs that will suck the Al Queda's lungs out through their nostrils?
To: clintonh8r
Find and fix the target; then nuke the bastards.

Are these the bombs that will suck the Al Queda's lungs out through their nostrils? Their nostrils if they're lucky.
