I heard a brief report, on the radio ( and no other source has picked it up, that I know of ) , that they belong to a cult like , way out there , sort of Christian sect , with rules that make the Taliban appear to be " gentle ". Women are ALL supposedly EVIL, and that Eve was EVIL and allied with Satan , so ... women were all evil too. Mrs. Yates HAS claimed that she was " evil " and Satan, and I think that her husband is as guilty as she is ; he turned her into this monster. It was he, who met the leaders of this " religion ", while he was in college, and brought his wife into it.
I'd go insane too, if I were married for 4 1/2 years , with three children, pregnat with another, lived in a damned bus, and was allowed 3 hours a week, for myself. YUCK !
What a sick little marriage...
Please let me know which cult they belonged to. I'm doing a position paper for our church about the local franchise of the Boston (International) Church of Christ. A member family of that group came home one day to their filth, vermin-infested trailor to find their three teenage children naked, and dead. The middle son had apparently offed the older sister, the younger brother, and himself.
Yeah, but let's get serious no. If people knew the life you chose for yourself, the above comments make sense. I definitely agree that multiple children, home A LOT, in modest quarters is NOT for you(remember the homeschool thread a while back--you revealed a lot). I happen to know plenty of CHRISTIAN, homeschooling mothers with even more children than Mrs. Yates who are doing quite well save for the normal downtimes we all face from time to time. Even given all the weird circumstances, this woman is a very sick fluke amongst homeschoolers, mother's with more than one child, or the more modest Christian types.
I agree, their living situation was absolutely insane. When I was in high school, there was a family that sorta reminded me of the Yates family. The mom and daughters always had to wear dresses and keep their heads covered. They were part of an obscure Christian cult. I always felt bad for them, but didn't really get annoyed until we had a really bad snow storm that year. While the dad sat on his duff, the mother and three daughters, wearing dresses, went out there and shoveled the snow. My dad, feeling bad for them, went there and shoveled for them, while the girls' father sat inside on his butt.
