"Two years ago, California Gov. Gray Davis was on top of the world. Thought to be a likely presidential candidate for the Democrats in 2004, he was well-funded, had strong support on the left, and was viewed in a generally positive light by the business community," United Press International said today.
"My, how times have changed."
In reporting the results of the latest Field Poll, which found conservative businessman Bill Simon ahead of liberal "front-runner" Richard Riordan for the GOP gubernatorial nomination, UPI noted another stunner: the decline of Davis, with Simon having a "shocking" advantage of 44 percent to 42 percent over the incumbent.
On Jan. 2, Field Poll showed Davis beating Simon 46 percent to 37 percent, "so the shift is astonishing. Simon also has pulled ahead of Riordan in the primary, leading 37 percent to 31 percent among all voters and 39 percent to 30 percent among Republicans."
Simon, a virtual unknown just months ago, has run a strong campaign. He "increased his name identification among voters from 22 percent at the beginning of December to 71 percent in the latest survey." And he has a favorable/unfavorable rating of 59 percent to 12 percent.
The race to lead America's most populous state can grow only more fascinating as Tuesday's primary nears.

A new field-poll came out saying that all 3 Republican nominees would beat Davis in a hypotetical match-up. Too good to be true, but that's what the poll says.

Refresh my memory. Didn't I read on some internet discussion forum that Riordan was the GOP's only hope to win in CA? Weren't we being told that only a RINO had a hope against Davis? Didn't I read that somehwre?

Simon passed Riordan. All three are predicted to beat Davis which is a very good sign for Americans who are skeptical about Rat policies similar to Grayouts.

The question is, will the White House & the RNC get behind Simon - beginning Wed. after his win?

Notice to U.S. Senators of, or formerly of, the Republican Party ...If you think you have the support to pass the campaign finance reform bill, you might be wrong. But go ahead. Pass it.
You can be replaced by a Real Republican.

WOW! This is truly amazing! To bad the elections aren't tomorrow! Watch all the dead people, homeless people, illegals, prisoners, and druggies cast votes in November for Davis! There's lots of work to be done from here to November, best wishes to all GOP campaign workers in CA!!

I guess Davis is going to have to get out the illegal alien vote if he wants to be re-elected.

I can see the slogan now... "Gray Davis... because Al Gore's too flashy."
