Please tell me that NBC will NOT being doing the next Olympics, summer or winter. They did a terribly inept job of this one.
I think Salt Lake did a very nice job of hosting the Games.
All that said, I miss the old days, when the only professionals competing in the Olympics were from the Soviet block. The Games have become a venue for boorish behavior, crass commercialism, and a haven for fraudulent judges (well, to be fair, they've ALWAYS been a haven for fraudulent judges). Fortunately, there are still wonderful athletes who are the exception to this overall behavior, and that's the only reason I'll keep watching. Thank God for the Derrick Parra's and Sara Hughes' and Jimmy Shea's.

3)The cross country skier (Italian?) who thanked "Prezeedent Boosh" for these wonderful Olympics...ooooo, smart and cute! That skier is Johann Muehlegg of Spain-- he was forced to forfeit his most recent medal after testing positive for a performance-enhancing drug intended to help kidney patients avoid anemia. It wasn't a banned substance, but they acted anyway because it was performance enhancing.
The Bush comment was cool, though. Spain (even though Muehlegg's not originally from there) and Poland both like Bush pretty well.

Yes, I've heard them talk about that plane crash before. Can't remember what Dick Button was doing at the time, but he of course knew many of the people on the plane.

I really can't wait to see N'Sync. They are the best band ever in all of music history. They dance so neato and dress so hip. They are music wonders! The whole world is waiting to see them. Ok, I'll bite. That's sarcasm, right?

So far, Bush opening the games w/ "On behalf of a proud and determined nation..." and Derek Para getting his gold medal. I haven't posted much to these threads but have enjoyed them greatly.

No, I'm not a writer. John Branch wrote the opening, he is a columnist from somewhere, I just swiped it for the opening. I did attribute the article to him though...

Well, the Child of Light will be back this evening. The local news stations have had pieces on him, practicing for tonight's closing ceremony.

What are your favorite memories of these Winter Olympics?Your reports. They are better than watching it on TV. I have felt like I was there. Thank you.

You're so sweet, thanks for the compliment. I didn't realize how fun it would be having the Olympics in my backyard.
To: JoeEveryman
I hear they have located Whitey Bulger in a mobile home community southwest of Salt Lake City...and he graciously agreed to show up tonight to snuff out the Child of the Light...ROTFLMAO!
