SEAFORD, N.Y. (AP) -- A man apparently bled to death after falling on the shards of a coffee mug he was carrying, police said.
Joseph Stoyer, 51, was found face-down on the sidewalk outside his Long Island apartment building by a jogger Thursday.

The death, no. The manner, OTOH, can be sometimes amusing...

No, of course not. It's only the fact that we don't know the poor man or his friends or relatives that makes joking possible. That, and the rather bizarre and seemingly incongruous way that the accident happened (by a coffe cup, of all things). It's called "black humor."
Or in this case, possibly "with-cream humor"! Whoops! I did it again!
I hereby state, in advance, that should I die in a manner which is in any way bizarre or ironic, every Freeper has my unreserved permission to milk it for all the humor value they can manage.
Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh.[Aside: When I went looking for that GBS quote in order to make sure I had remembered it accurately, I found this superb "quotes" website: http://www.quoteserver.ca/index.shtml]

No. Our mugs must be made of plutonium to resist the chemicals in our coffee.
Paraphrasing Mel Brooks:
Tragedy is when you fall on your coffee mug and die,
Comedy is when someone else falls on their coffee mug and dies.
Mel actually used slipping on a banana peel in his example.
And we all know, I think, that there is real sorrow and real tears lying beneath the surface of this story. As it is, we are only having a little harmless fun. I don't think this will desensitize us to the real thing, when it confronts us.
Proof positive! Hi, and wonderful to be talking to you again.
Actually, it was a Starbucks coffee mug--one that Xlinton gave to him. Hmmmmm, calling Alamo Girl.
