Pearl's murder technique proves Jaish link

NEW DELHI: The brutal way in which WSJ journalist Daniel Pearl was murdered is a clear indication of the involvement of the terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed, which is headed by Masood Azhar and Omar Sheikh, say senior security officials with the Intelligence Bureau.

Pearl's throat was slit from behind by his abductors and, going by media reports, he was subsequently beheaded.

This is similar to the manner which 27-year-old Norwegian Hans Ostro was beheaded by Al Faran terrorists in July 1995 and the way Rupen Katyal, one of the passengers in the hijacked Indian Airlines aircraft IC 814 was killed in December 1999.

That the Al Faran was a front of the Jaish—which, at that time, was called the Harkat-ul-Ansar—was confirmed when the kidnappers demanded the release of Azhar, who was incarcerated in an Indian jail at that time.

The Al Faran had kidnapped Ostro in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, along with five other foreigners.

The Narasimha Rao government in 1995 did not give in to the demands of the hijackers. Ostro's body was subsequently found beheaded with 'Al Faran' engraved on his body.

The hijackers of IC 814 too demanded the release of Azhar, and this time, the Atal Behari Vajpayee government gave in due to the pressure exerted by the families of the hostages. During the course of the hijack, Katyal's throat too was slit from behind and he bled to death.

According to officials, the similarity in the killing of Pearl, Ostro and Katyal indicates that the terrorists have been trained in a similar manner and, therefore, belong to the same outfit.

"One of the six foreigners kidnapped by the Al Faran in 1995, an American John Childs who managed to escape from captivity said that the terrorists used psychological torture against them. One of the means was slitting the throat of a sheep in front of the hostages," says an official.

Similaties have already been drawn between an earlier kidnapping of four foreign citizens in India and Pearl's abduction. Sheikh [Omar] is the prime suspect in the abduction.

The pictures of Pearl that were earlier released to the media had shown him handcuffed with newspaper cuttings in the background.

This was similar to the pictures of hostages that were released by Sheikh in India. Sheikh too had demanded the release of Azhar. The four hostages, however were lucky to be rescued after a shoot-out with the security forces.

Question the rabid beasts and then separate them from their heads. Make them subject to their own sharia penalties!

So if I say that Aryan Nations and their "kill all blacks and Jews" stance belies the assertion that Christianity is a religion of peace, does that make me just like you?

There is nothing in the Christian Holy Book that calls for such. That Aryan Nations might call for such has nothing to do with the Christian Religion. The Moslem Holy Book and commentaries (Hadith) in numerous places do call for killing non Muslims as an alternative to their conversion.

Every culture has obscene thugs and bullies.

Bull. Violence against infidels has always been central to Islamic practice. From the 1917 Catholic Encyclopedia :

In matters political Islam is a system of despotism at home and aggression abroad. The Prophet commanded absolute submission to the imâm. In no case was the sword to be raised against him. The rights of non-Moslem subjects are of the vaguest and most limited kind, and a religious war is a sacred duty whenever there is a chance of success against the "Infidel". Medieval and modern Mohammedan, especially Turkish, persecutions of both Jews and Christians are perhaps the best illustration of this fanatical religious and political spirit.

Ada:
Pakistan could ask, but.......
Case law: Arizonan murdered a Mexican citizen, in Arizona. Local D.A. got an indictment, local trial, local verdict, local execution.
Case: Chinese citizen accused of murder in Arizona, perp fled to China, China tells local D.A. to fly a kite. Clinton/Bush do nothing. Either of them.

"A Muslim legal system? That's as gross a generalization as "Christian legal system" which depends on local laws, which vary incredibly all over the world. Every culture has obscene thugs and bullies. Every culture has violence justified by self-interest. That doesn't make it right, just common. Every culture has somewhere a quasi-religious justification for self-interest."

SO true...we must never forget that I-Slum is the cult of peace.

Great! But in the mean-time, let's keep bending over backwards to suck up to the Pakis, forgiving their barbaric terrorist acts, while ignoring their chief victim of terrorism, the democratic and constitutional republic that is India, who has lost more than 83,000 to these thugs!

Makes so much sense...

Get use to it, it sounds like they are in charge at the end of the age because beheading is the method of choice for those Christians that refuse to accept the anti-Christ.

In the days when all Christians lived under Christianized Roman Law, it would have been perfectly reasonable to speak of a "Christian legal system". In Islam, there is a strong and in many places effective, movement to apply the Sharia as the only law, not only in terms of content, but in terms of procedures. In these places, it is reasonable to speak of a "Muslim legal system" without absurd generalization.

In Pakistan, the movement has not completely succeeded. Its influence (as well as the influence of U.S. military aid) must be considered in analysing the likelihood that extradition requests to Pakistan will succeed.

Also, don't forget that demanding a right to try a foreign national for a crime committed in another country just because the victim is a U.S. citizen is a very strange precedent. If an American (or Canadian) murdered a Pakistani national in America, he would be tried in America, not extradited to Pakistan. The combination of a demand for extraterritorial application of American law which would provide for capital punishment when local law (in this case Sharia) would not is very iffy.

I heard once --and only once-- on ABC radio news at 7:00 a.m. EST today, Pearl's reported last words: "I am a Jew, and my father was a Jew."

At that moment, according to the ABC report, Pearl was murdered.

Exactly right.

Pakistan did NOTHING as far as I can tell, to help Danny Pearl. And he was held in a major city.

I am so NOT IMPRESSED by Pakistan.
