SACRAMENTO -- State Legislative Analyst Elizabeth Hill is expected to deliver grim news today when she reveals her in-depth analysis of Gov. Gray Davis' budget plan.
Hill told key lawmakers Tuesday that California now faces a possible $14.5 billion budget shortfall in the current budget year and next, even accounting for more than $2 billion in cuts approved by lawmakers late last month.

It'll be interesting to see how governor Davis handles this news.

I love to see a liberal worm flop about in front of the cameras. Say, how's that energy crisis, governor? How's your electric bill?

You can not blame Davis. He is a victim of an accountant that does not like him. If Governor Davis had not taken the action he had done during the energy crisis this accountant would have more State money to count. She is just upset becuase there is nothing left, except Davis, who is very left.

Oddly, as a Californian I see this as stupendously good news.

What is really funny is that NC is using California as a model to help our fiscal situation. Gov Mike (raise taxes) Easley inherited a fiscal mess from Gov Jim Hunt(ing for taxes) and stepped up and made it worse. We are somewhere in the neighborhood of $1.2B in the red.
