Support for Riordan is a vote for gun confiscation

Re: Endorsement of Richard Riordan for Governor

Richard Riordan is bad news to the gun community. As a matter of fact, he is worse than even Gray Davis. We know it and you should know it.

We are so adamant about this that we will be dropping the Gun Owners of America and Gun Owners of California grade/rating for any elected official or candidate who endorses Riordan regardless of voting records or questionnaire results. We consider support for Riordan as a vote for gun confiscation.

If you have endorsed Richard Riordan, we would consider it a great show of support for the Second Amendment if you would retract your endorsement.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

I'm not a GOA fan, but they are right in this case. Riordan IS worse than even Davis.

Good plan - Get one of the two other Yahoos up against Davis, and watch him get slaughtered.

This is powerful stuff ... finally, someone is standing up and calling a spade a spade, and forcing conservative traitors to make a real decision. Not all those people listed are conservatives, but the ones who are ... like Rohrabacher, Cox, Royce, Issa, Campbell, Runner and others ... need to realize that they can't completely betray the Republican Party AND the conservatives without consequences.

Anyone, if one of these people is your representative, Call them and tell them to dump their endorsement of Riordan ... he is NO Republican, and his baggage and flip-flops will ensure a Davis victory in November.

Yes, either Jones OR Simon has a much better chance to defeat Davis than Riordan.

I, for one, am supporting Simon because he has the BEST chance of defeating Gray Davis. Simon offers a clear contrast on all the issues with liberal Davis. Simon also has an "A" rating from the NRA -- the highest possible for any non-incumbent -- and is endorsed by conservatives H.L. Richardson, Tony Strickland, Jay La Suer, and Bruce Herschensohn.

Simon has the best chance of beating Davis; a Riordan victory in March will guarantee four more years of Davis. He is the WEAKEST candidate we have.

I'm curious as to how they are gonna rig it so Riordan wins.

You sound pessimistic. If Riordan wins it's because conservatives stayed home. He is falling in the polls and Simon is surging. A poll taken two weeks ago ... before Riordan's dismal performance in the debate ... had, in a low turnout election, Riordan at 26% and Simon at 21%. Jones only went from 12% to 13%. Jones hasn't moved since the beginning. It is obvious that Simon is the choice of conservatives and he has the presence and money to beat Riordan AND Davis.

Riordan will get killed in the general election. When Davis beats Riordan over the head with the prices LADWP charged the State for power, Riordan will be toast. He won't have support from his base, and the "moderates" will dump him too.

Why is Riordan even running? Perhaps you should learn about Gerry Parsky. I suggest you try here and here to learn the real background on this election. Then perhaps I will bother to tell you why Simon can win. For now all I can say is that your assertions are exactly what they said about Reagan against Christopher in 1966. There is a new majority that can be built in this State based upon conservative principles and it's rock solid.

More bad news today for LA/Valley gun owners. The B&B gunshop - which loaned the LAPD the firepower to take on the bankrobbers in the North Hollywood shootout - has filed for bankrupcy.

Riordan is a disaster for the California Republican Party. If he's the nominee, another term for Gray Davis is assured.

You're right about that ... Bill Simon is our best hope of beating Gray Davis because he offers a clear contrast. Simon is a conservative, compassionate, with ideas and solutions to the problems created and excerbated by liberal Gray Davis. He holds firm to his conservative principles ... including protecting the second amendment ... but at the same time is compassionate, energetic, reasoned, and articulate. Davis will have a hard time wrapping the "right-wind extremist" label around Simon because of this. It won't stick ... especially considering that Simon has personally given millions of dollars to disadvantaged youth, homeless kids, and puts in TIME as well as MONEY.

Jones may be a nice guy, but he's third in the polls, has a problem raising money, and just doesn't have "it". He was mean and spiteful in the debate, and Davis would easily be able to wrap the "right-wing extremist" label around him ... even though Simon is more conservative than Jones!

Conservatives, unite! Vote Bill Simon on March 5th!

Supporting the 2nd Amendment is stupid?

If RINOs masquerading as conservatives in the CA legislature express support for Riordan, then what does that tell you about their own pro-gun stands?

Sad to see Chris Cox and Duke Cunningham on that list of folks who have endorsed Riordan.

Bill Simon is also supported by one of my personal heroes: Dr. James Hirsen.

What's stupid is withdrawing support for people who support the second ammendment because they may endorse someone who doesn't. Not everyone is a single issue voter (or endorser). If they are willing to dump someone who votes 100% pro-gun because they endorse someone who is not, they are going to end up with nobody left to support, and no influence on anyone who is in office. Actually that pretty much describes the GOA. Conservitively correct, and politically irrelevant.

Gun-rights activists - and all other social conservatives - should send a message to the elites of the GOP by abandoning Riordan at the polls. Use the Kalifornia elections to show the elites running the GOP that they will lose without the support of social conservatives - and that they cannot take us for granted.

Show the country-club elites of the GOP that we the grassroots social conservatives won't support a GOP that doesn't support us!

Scandals of antigun politicians - from Kalifornia to Manhattan!
