The parents pleaded at that meeting last night to get rid of all of the non-curricular clubs rather than ok the gay club. They didn't even discuss it! And the Clovis representing attorney kept saying you'll take the chance of losing federal money if you deny this! What a crock!
What was also amazing is that only 3 teachers from the Clovis system had the guts to stand up for the welfare of their students. And not one teacher from Clovis High school had the guts to say anything. I certainly learned a whole lot last night about Clovis Unified. In their "Rights & Responsibilities Handbook" under Board Policy No. 2101 it states, #3. High personal standards of courtesy, decency, morality, clean language, honesty and wholesome relationships with others shall be maintained." Gee, it sounds like their in violation of their own policies!
I can't get my daughter out othere fast enough. She is heart broken, embarassed and ashamed for her school.
And to set the record straight (no pun intended) the thunderous applause was not for both sides, only about 15% of the people there supported this club....and 14% of those were from out of town.
Clovis should hang their heads in shame!
God sees your good works. You will be well rewarded for your troubles.
Shelly, thank you for your detailed testimonial. We are also under the same situation. We have two kids in the "CUSD system". Two years ago, the CUSD Board would not allow kids to hold small signs with inspirational messages in the Class Photo at the end of the year. Kids could hold signs that said, and I quote, "Trish is Hot" "I love Beth's lips" but students who had small signs which said, "Thank you Jesus", "John 3:16", "Part of the Family of God" had their signs confiscated.
We contacted the Rutherford Institute, and they jumped right on the project. Fired off letters, and within 2 weeks, the school had to reschedule the Class Photo, and retake it. The solution, you guessed it. All signs were forbidden from the picture.
This School Board has been on a slippery slope for years.....I agree with you, it is sad, and our school has been high jacked by these liberal buffoons, but again, the Silent Majority continues to live up to their moniker.........ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.....
FresnoDA
I remember Clovis being a nice little town And Fresno too. When I was in CA and would head down there Would get off 99 and the first stoplight youd hit was on Blackstone. Now I hear Fresno sounds like the 4th of July every night.
Hit them with your pocketbook! Take your kids out of their school; this will lower the FTE (Full Time Equivalent) and both state and fed money will go down. And the high school will have to lay off teachers, stop music and band, cancel sports, etc. etc.
