EX-PRESIDENT FORD SUPPORTS GAY-RIGHTS LOBBY WASHINGTON, DC, Feb 8, 02 (CWNews.com) -- Former US President Gerald Ford has lent his public support an organization pushing for equal legal treatment of homosexual couples.
The Wall Street Journal has reported that Ford agreed to join the advisory board of the Republican Unity Coalition, a group devoted to promoting gay rights within the Republican party. From Lexis-Nexis: (88 words)
The Wall Street Journal (2/8, Calmes) reports in its "Washington Wire" column, "President Ford joins the advisory board of the pro-gay rights Republican Unity Coalition. Former Wyoming Sen. Alan Simpson invited him after group Chairman Charles Francis, a Bush family friend, read an interview in which Ford said gay couples 'ought to be treated equally' under benefits and tax laws. Ford also called 'unfair' and 'untrue' lingering claims he snubbed the man who foiled a 1975 assassination attempt because the man was gay."

No matter. I find that in this stage in his "political career" he doesn't have much "pull". It's a shame, but who's going to stop him from supporting this P.C. cause?
I just don't see him that much in the political forum anyway to make that much of a difference or embarass the GOP. IMHO.

Didn't he also defend Clinton and say he shouldn't be impeached? The man must have quite a closet full of skeletons he's hiding.
