Overheard during International TV Anchor Symposium, Dan Rather speaking with Muhammad Abdullah, the Iraqi TV anchor.
Muhammad Abdullah: "Mr. Rather, I am a patriotic type of TV anchor. Whenever I get the chance I would praise Saddam Hussein as a wonderful leader and a man with principles. I also, whenever there is an opportunity, would condemn United States; its policy, its president and its ideology."
Dan Rather: "Me too, infact I am more patriotic than you. I say the exact same things every day in my evening news!"
There is an American and a Russian. The American says, "My country is so great and free I can walk right up to the White House, shake my fist in the air and yell, 'Ronald Reagan is a Jerk'". The Russian boasts, "Thats nothing! In my country I can walk right up to the Kremlin, shake my fist in thea air and yell 'Ronald Reagan is a Jerk'".
Perhaps you mean 'pathetic'.
Or if patriotic, to what nation, Cuba?
Using "heart" in the modern, un-Biblical sense, I think Rather's heart may be in the right place. But his head's all screwed up. And he doesn't see the conflict.
Dan
You do that, buzz (or should I call you Mr. cat?).
I'll stick with Brit Hume, thank you.
A patriot doesn't need 9-11 to wake him up, he had more than one flag prior to the attack on America and not afraid to call it what it was. He probably has four years of service to the home country. He is most likely conservative.
If he's a patriotic newsman, he would most likely work for Fox.
He is Dan blather to me till he can cover a lot of ground that shows me he is changing.
