Welcome to the Unofficial Sheila Jackson-Lee for President 2004! Home PageIn the spring of 1966, I wrote to Robert Kennedy and urged him to run for President and he wrote back declining. You know the rest of the story. He rose to the occasion. And you know the rest after that. The integrity of the Democratic Party overall -- with some modest exceptions and a nod to Jimmy Carter and Barbara Jordan and a few others -- has been in a shambles ever since. Unable to steer a course of integrity and courage between the false paths of a fatuous populism and Clintonian poll-driven pragmatism, the pickings were good enough so that even defeated Democrats could make an excellent living. In the lap of moral compromise, Democrats did very well, thank you. Now we need to find and promote a leader who can sieze the moral initiative and, win or lose, galvanize the party once again. We have waited for nearly four decades and we can wait no more.
Quick check of WHO SHEILA JACKSON-LEE IS.
We have had no Democratic President from the Midwest or the Northeast since John F. Kennedy. All winning Democrats have had some element of Southern rootage. The situation is not that different for Republicans. It is most likely still imperative that our 2004 candidate come from that general area of the country. What Sheila Jackson-Lee brings to the table is not only her geographic advantage but also the fact that she is the only major Democrat today who has the capacity to speak in terms that capture the center for the Party. Gore most certainly could not achieve that. Clinton could but not in a way that elicited commitment. Sheila Jackson-Lee may be our best public speaker since Martin Luther King, Jr.

If they can put a man on Mars, I don't see why Ms. Jackson-Lee shouldn't run.

Rootage...What the hell is "rootage?"
To: sinclair
Lock her in a room with Al Sharpton. The one who emerges gets to have a hair-pulling fight with Hillary for the nomination.

If they can put a man on Mars, I don't see why Ms. Jackson-Lee shouldn't run. And to think, NASA put Neil Armstrong on MARS at MOON knock-down prices!!

Now we need to find and promote a leader who can sieze the moral initiative and, win or lose, galvanize the party once again. Then vote Republican!
