Vanity Post on Vanity Posts, Duplicate Posts, Trash Posts, Commie Propaganda, etc., Vol V, No. 1

Way too many vanity threads lately. And way too much trash being posted. Please try to stay on topic (politics). Also, please do a search on a significant word from the title of your article before posting. This will reduce the number of duplicates. And, along these same lines, please use the original titles on your article posts. Do NOT edit the titles. Do NOT use "My Title" titles. This will also help to reduce the number of duplicates.

And, whatever else you do, please DO NOT post from DEMOCRATS UNDERGROUND (or any other such trashy un-American socialist hangout). Free Republic was intended to be a socialist free zone. We've gone to a heck of a lot of trouble to make it that way. Why in the world would you think we would be interested in having their trash posted here?

And QUIT trashing each other. You know who you are. Knock it off! Way too many flamewars and feuds going on. And, while I'm thinking about it, QUIT trashing our conservative candidates. If you want to criticize someone's position on some policy, have at it. But do not trash or smear the man. That would include Browne, Buchanan, Bush, Keyes, et al, or whomever else may be your favorite trashee (examples listed in alphabetical sequence). The idea is to get more conservatives elected, not to trash the ones you don't like. If you want to trash someone, make it a Democrat.

Whatever else you may think about our guys, they did not hijack airliners full of people and crash them into buildings. No, my friends, not even the dreaded CIA. Anyone who would believe (or even suspect) that crap is no FReeper. I've been pulling this crap whenever I see it and several people have been banned for continuing to post it. Question: Have you written to Yahoo regarding their posting of the picture in question? I'm sure their news site gets a ton more worldwide hits than this site. Who has the responsibility for that picture? Is it AP or Reuters? Have you written to them? Or have you written to your local news agency and television stations if they have shown the picture on television?

You frame the question incorrectly. Nobody is questioning the publication on the picture.
(However, if I were running a news organization, I would not publish it.)
The point is not that the picture was shown, but whether the "message" from Pearl was revealed. If the outlets you cite did, then shame on them. You might want to equate FR with Yahoo, AP, Reuters, your local news agency and television stations. I, for one, thought that we are better than they. I am starting to question that. I guess it is one of the perils of growth. The lowest common denominator theory is alive and well.

My fondest wish is that Pearl is released unharmed, and JimRob puts the 2 deleted posts back up, so we can really have at it.

Finally, the obvious is staring everyone in the face, but they fail to see it:

He doesn't pull articles when he disagrees with them, or when there is a popular uprising. He pulls them when they are wrong and reflect badly on FR.

I was addressing the point that Oneida said that another poster said the picture was "offensive". Nobody that I have seen on this thread has said that.

I am going go into BOLD ALL CAPS mode shortly.

I don't know that there is an ongoing conflict between Registred and Gal, and if there is, it's too bad. I have not noticed it anywhere, and I spend a lot of time here--way too much, according to the distaff side.

Well, I don't want to get in a semantics debate here, and as I have told Gal, even though I vehemently disagree with what Registered did, I think banning is not the solution.

I read into your post that they had an ongoing conflict. I was wrong. I did the exact same thing as the people who read into Gal's posts that the pictures themselves were "offensive".

A well-seasoned vanity can be the good spice when things get heavy out there in the world, given the importance of FR in setting/keeping it right. There's a Chinese proverb that says "when the students are ready, a teacher appears." The vanity not long ago about "Does that Oxy stuff really work?" was fun and not at all mean. The posts about the ab-shockers alone were worth the price of admission. You do as much good as FR does, a little whimsy and prattling is a good thing now and then.
