I'm not ragging on Jenna or Barbara for drinking while underage. Heck, freshman year, you disinfect stuff iwht my blood.

I suppose I was a bit callous. On the other hand, GW's daughter's are cute. Neil Bush's daughter is a moder. Jeb Bush's son is one of the most elegable bachelors. His daughter is not high on the list of bachelorettes.

Correction: she has a severe PRESCRIPTION drug problem. Somebody, a physician, got her hooked on xanax to begin with. It's not easy to break that addiction.

Doctors prescribe it for lots of stuff, primarily depression or anxiety I think. Give her a facial, perm and a pair of low rise jeans, and she could probably give Jennifer Lopez a run for the money... visually of course. I doubt she can sing.

Looks are dependent on diet, execise, sleep, clothing, and makeup. They got her on film, at a bad time for all of the above. Hope she recovers quickly. Bet ya another doctor already has her on a prescription for now. I suspect her mental state will be sufficient reason for the judge to grant leniency. I know lots who would... and some take a little xanax now and then themselves.

I could take a whole roll of 36 snaps and come up with 35 of the ugliest pictures ever of people in my beautiful family. I'm not defending the young lady but being non- photogenic is not a big deal. You should see the horrible looking picture the El Paso Democratic Times prints in it's weekly of Dubya. He looks like the stupidist man ever born. It's the same picture every week.

Ditto here. Unless you've gone through it with one of your own, don't judge. Mine had some real bad years, but is doing great now. It certainly wasn't anything he learned in his home.
A friend just lost here 38 year old son to alcohol abuse. "He only drank a couple of beer a day!"(sarc).
Let's give the Bush's what they asked for: Our support, understanding and privacy in this very difficult time. A few prayers might also be appreciated.

The thing I can't get over is the fact that JEB BUSH has children this old. I knew about GP BUSH, that sexy thing, but to hear he has a child even older blows my mind. I thought George P was the oldest. Jeb Bush doesn't look as if he has children that old. He really looks great for his age and he is younger than GW. Must of gotten married earlier in life.

As for Noelle I truly hope she gets the help she needs and accepts the help she needs.

It is very sad. I'm not making excuses for what she did .. it was definitely criminal. But being the Mom of a doc who went through pre-med college, med school, and residency .. and knowing the horrendous hours they have to spend learning (especially in residency), she could look that tired from coming off an 18 or 20-hour shift alone. It is gruelling. I've heard the stories of stressed out residents who have to take meds to stay awake on shift and tranquilizers to get to sleep.

Sends a bad message to the dopers, letting their "mental state" affect their cases. If one didn't know better one would think it had something to do with her parents political connections. We can't let the people think we have a double standard justice system in this WOD.

People KNOW we have a double standard - and an eight year lesson in its applications.

What's needed is proof that the Bush family is capable of dealing with their problems in a manner somewhat akin to what many of us would feel obliged to do:
Will they seek help,
Provide support,
Be open about it without raising a banner,
Will they insist that the daughter face the music...
and with that let's admit that anyone on FR would try to get their kid's punishment minimized!

I agree with other posters that this is a doctor generated drug problem, not uncommon at all in a culture that prescribes drugs to children to keep them quiet in grade school!
