I've never liked the matrix pools. The office pools that everyone has for the NCAA tournement are much more to my liking, so I endeavored to create something similar for the Super Bowl last year, and I have done so again this year.

Rules:

Pick five propositions. You get the number of points in parenthesis if the proposition wins. You get 100 points for any proposition that ties, and nothing if it loses. In case of disputes, statistics posted at ESPN.COM will be used to judge the outcome of each proposition. Highest point total wins. Closest to total point score for the game will be used as a tie breaker.

How can you enjoy the Superbowl without the granddaddy of all prop bets, the coin toss?

Nice pool; I think #36 should read "StL scores last", though.

the coin toss

I know about the coin toss, but I'm not sure that it's reported anyplace post game that I know. Also there's always a chance that they will use a special coin with NFC on one side and AFC on the other and not have anyone call head or tails.

(This is a well thought out pool!)

How 'bout you keep all your fancy matrix crap to yourself, and we just bet that St. Louis flat out kicks their ass.

In addition to the squares, a fun pool we do every year at our Super Bowl party is we throw all 100 or so players names in a hat. You pay $1 and select 5 names (feel free to alter to your own specific financial situation). If one of the folks you draw wins the MVP award you win the pot.

It makes for some interesting moments during a blowout. Also, invariably as soon as the opening kickoff is in the air, the person who has the kicker will announce, "You know, if the game ended right now... "

Excellent pool. Thank you. Maybe next year you could add things such as the 1st player to score a td etc..

FTR

My picks in my office pool were 1 13 26 32 70 - pts=45

(They might have been different if I expected only two entries! In fact I am part of another mini-pool where the guy who comes in last has to buy bagels. There my picks were 6 10 32 46 55 - pts=45.)
