You know, I'm hard-core against the WOD, and I still don't see how this story is a big deal.

From your link:

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Reuters) - Florida Gov. Jeb Bush's daughter Noelle, who is the niece of President Bush, was arrested on a charge of prescription fraud involving an anti-anxiety prescription drug, police said on Tuesday... Police in the state capital Tallahassee confirmed Noelle Bush's arrest and said it involved the anti-anxiety drug Xanax but other details were not immediately available... Noelle is the governor's middle child. The Florida first family's Web site lists her age as 24.

Geez..get a load of the last line:

President Bush's two daughters were arrested in 2001 on charges of underage drinking.

No bias there...</ sarcasm>

Here is some info on Xanax

It includes the following warning:

The potential for psychological dependence is more of a risk in individuals with a history of alcohol or drug abuse. Addiction prone individuals should be under careful surveillance when receiving Xanax. DO NOT STOP TAKING XANAX ABRUPTLY. This can cause withdrawal reactions, including seizures. Signs of withdrawal may include heightened sensory perception, impaired concentration, dysosmia (distortion of normal smell perception), clouded sensorium, parasthesias, muscle cramps, muscle twitches, diarrhea, blurred vision, appetite decreases and weight loss. Anxiety and insomnia have also been reported. Withdrawal reactions may occur when dosage reduction occurs for any reason, including forgetting to take a dose. Xanax must be reduced gradually under the doctor's supervision.

I remember when the "discovery" of Monica's school teacher, married boyfriend broke. Reporters were tripping all over themselves to get to a microphone just minutes before Clinton's speech. "AND now this from Portland, Oregon.....a married teacher has confessed to having had an affair with MONICA and admits he and his wife had to go thru therapy because of the affair with MONICA. Black female Democrats were hugging Clinton and sobbing as he walked in as if to say, "We knew Monica was a slut, Mr. President. We knew it was all her fault." I guess those same Dems will now be trying to trip Dubya in the aisle because of his brother's daughter. I do hope Noel is innocent in this though. I smell setup.

I always thought the nickname Shrub was clever and amusing.

I always thought it was cheap and easy.

Who knows something about Xanax? It's pretty commonly prescribed, isn't it? I know it's very easy to develop a dependency on it (I know an elderly person who is terribly addicted to it - has been on anti-anxiety meds for some time). Do people abuse it for reasons other than to control their anxiety?

He didn't admit any guilt. He just basically stated he was sad that it happened that's all.

Reagan Man, you can take section9's word for it:
I'm as conservative as the day is long, am a big fan of Condoleezza Rice, President George W. Bush , Ronald Reagan, and Tricky Dick (go figure; everyone has their dark side).
I've seen other Bush supporters use "Shrub." Think how it must annoy Molly Ivins, who thought she'd stuck him with something awful.

What is the big deal on Xanax, not a drug that a casual addict or a hard core user would steal.

So she has a bottle that was not a refill, this is really beginning to sound like Chuy's Pharmacy.

Anyone care to do a little research about the pharmacies in Tallahassee and if a Democratic Precincts Worker might be a druggists??

Why is this a "non-story"?

The U.S. State and Federal authorities routinely destroy peoples lives over exactly this kind of "offence". Children are taken from their families, steady wage earners are jailed, family property is taken, innocent people are shot by wannabe ninja "tac teams" serving no knock warrants, terminal patients are denied demonstrably useful medications, etc., etc., ad nauseum.

I think it's a very interesting story and will be most interested in seeing exactly how Jeb and "W" react.

From all reports I have read on Algore III's run in with the the NC Highway Partol was that he was doing in excess of 100 MPH but NO alcohol was involved.

"The bastards play hardball don't they"

Well, look at the bright side; they are not even trying to look discreet anymore about their dirty tactics. I mean even if we look at it from the perspective that they played no active role and see it just as a "lucky break" for the dems if they make the slightest move to blow it out of proportion it is going to look like they're kicking somebody when they're down, and I think Americans on the whole find that distasteful.

They are getting desperate and they are looking desperate. Americans don't care for that either I don't think. So let's go ahead and give them the rope. They are doing a real good job of hanging themselves.

Does this incident change your opinion of Gov. Jeb Bush in the slightest? It sure doesn't change mine. People have problems and people's kids embarass them...even when they get older. It's a fact of life and to try to make more of it than it is is to look petty and vindictive. The Democrats are twisting in the wind and that is their own doing...or perhaps I should say "undoing." Hehehehe...

The connection must be made for the bulk of their democrat readers who are baffled by the intracacies of the intact family.

"I always thought the nickname Shrub was clever and amusing, regardless of the political proclivities of those who coined and popularized it."

Thats fine, as long as you don't mind being associated with those who use the name as an insult. Although if you explain yourself as well as you did in this post every time you use it, then you should be fine.

My cousin went to H.S. with her. She has to be around 22...and yes, she was hot. BTW, this is sad. Drugs are very dangerous and know no boundaries.
