Just an exerpt:
The pattern continued. In 1995, Cincinnati billionaire Carl Lindner, whom McAuliffe had successfully courted as a donor, put up money for McAuliffe to buy American Heritage Homes, then the second-largest home builder in Florida. And in 1997, Los Angeles businessman Gary Winnick, also a Democratic donor, gave McAuliffe an early opportunity to invest $100,000 in Winnick's new company, Global Crossing, an owner and operator of undersea fiber-optic cables. When the stock subsequently soared, McAuliffe made a reported $18 million from that $100,000 investment. Two years later, McAuliffe arranged for Winnick to play golf with President Clinton, and Winnick then gave a million dollars to help build Clinton's presidential library.

In addition, it would be interesting to note what gary winnick, did with his company and stock, before the collapse. Did he sell the company for billions, or did he ride the collapse into personal bankruptcy, and if so why didn't he have the same info terry did?

One of enterprising FReepers should post this incognito at DU and watch them go bananas.

A specific time frame is not not, but in the news articles that mention the McAuliffe connection, it does mention that he sold his shares for at least $18 million. They also mention that former President Bush's $80,000 gift in lieu of his speaking fee was worth, at its peak, roughtly $15 million and in a bout of fairness, mentiones that it is not known if he sold his shares.

Somebody forgot to tell
The New York Times (story
here) about ARCO's connection with Clinton...
Other investors included the Tisch family of New York and Lodwrick Cook, the retired chairman of ARCO and a big Republican Party fund-raiser.

Thanks. I'll swear to high heaven that it wasn't there when the article first came out, cause that's where I look since the format change took place. Glad to see it back, and thanks for taking the time to ping me on it.

Every time I see this sleaze's face, I am reminded of how much I hate the Clinton administration and what they did to our country. I hope they all get what they deserve (orange jumpsuits!). M
