And, whatever else you do, please DO NOT post from DEMOCRATS UNDERGROUND (or any other such trashy un-American socialist hangout). I guess that means nothing more from the NYTimes.
To: Admin Moderator
And, while I'm thinking about it, QUIT trashing our conservative candidates. If you want to criticize someone's position on some policy, have at it. But do not trash or smear the man. That would include Browne, Buchanan, Bush, Keyes, et al, or whomever else may be your favorite trashee...Can't tell you how much I appreciate this statement Jim. I have always felt that issues were fair game, but some of the attacks are savage and lack basis in fact.

I hope this hasn't been mentioned on the other thread, but what about all these threads bashing Lincoln and supporting the CSA?
That seems to me a class of vanity we could easily do without.

That's all well and good, but can anyone point me to last nights thread about what/when/how members of the press new about Enron's failings and their liabilty for covering up said info..
To: Admin Moderator
RINO's are still fair game...right?

So, is there any chance of these guidelines being applied CONSISTENTLY in the future? I didn't think so.

I did notice that on the original thread that there were FReepers complaining about daliy "chat" threads
like the Daily Dose, America the Right Way, The Guild, The USO Canteen etc.
Last I read Jim and John were going to add new chat forums,
not discourage people from having friendly discussions that include conservative view points.
Next thing you know some FReepers will be complaining about Radio Free Republic
because Hosts and Callers don't stay on topic 100%

And, while I'm thinking about it, QUIT trashing our conservative candidates. If you want to criticize someone's position on some policy, have at it. But do not trash or smear the man. Please tell me that this would include conservative leaders who happen to be dead like Abraham Lincoln.

There is no mention on that list about bashing moderators!!!
Quit posting duplicates, alright puddin' pants?
To: Admin Moderator
Thanks for the info and guideline.
May I propose that this post stay permanently visible somewhere?
To: Admin Moderator
Having just made a duplicate post (arrrrrgh!!) I know what you're up against. Keep in mind these things:
1. The same story often appears in different versions: different news sources, different posts of the same story, different dates and times of posts. To what extent they comprise "duplicates" will always be in dispute.
2. Sometimes headlines will change without the story proper changing. This is especially true of wire-service dispatches, and stories in The New York Times (don't ask).
3. Even the slightest variation in spelling or punctuation can prevent a story from showing up in Search.
And agreed, headlines should not be in ALL CAPS, but some sources (notably Drudge Report) headline stories in caps. Correct the case size and you risk running a duplicate; use the caps and you show off.
This member will always try to do his best to keep his fellow members informed, and to adhere to the reasonable rules. But please realize, as I trust you do, nobody's perfect.

And, while I'm thinking about it, QUIT trashing our conservative candidates. Well, I think if we don't keep their feet to the flames they will end up going to watch movies and socializing with super liberals such as Ted Kennedy. They might go as far as to adopt their issues and sign in legislation that is close to their liberal hearts like massive spending on education.
Oh wait...too late...

Two comments:
1. Thanks for reposting. I did not see the original (was not logged on Friday night or Saturday), and
2. Regarding duplicate posts, I don't mind them because I'm not on FR 24/7 (or even 12/5!) and so miss some or even many. Having said that, I liked it when the moderator identifed the thread as a duplicate and locked the thread from additional postings. I haven't seen many "locked" duplicate threads lately and expect it's because it takes too much time for the moderator to take the action shown above. In any event, a locked thread with a link sents readers to the original one and cuts down on duplicate comments on the thread. If possible, I would like to see this feature/action by the moderators return to the forum.

That would include Browne, Buchanan, Bush, Keyes, et al, or whomever else may be your favorite trashee (examples listed in alphabetical sequence). Including McCain?

This should be a continous thread untill everyone responds to it.
Bump!!
To: Admin Moderator
...please use the original titles on your article posts...Amen!
To: Admin Moderator; Jim Robinson
Thank you for the search suggestions. I've tried the significant word route before and it hasn't worked -- just the original title seems to work for me, but I'll try it again. Perhaps my mind just does not work like everyone else's as far as identifying significant words, and that idiosyncracy results in failed searches! LOL. In the future, I promise to search both ways: full title + several significant words.

Does this mean NO MORE VENOMOUS POSTS ABOUT CATHOLICS AND THE CATHOLIC RELIGION??????????
