we should be doing everything possible to promote heterosexuality. I say breasts should be everywhere!

I wish he hadn't done that. It plays into every 'Puritan', 'anti-culture', etc. etc. etc. stereotype that the left brandishes against the right.

I wouldn't mind having a naked breast over my shoulder . . . providing it is the real thing.

Nude statues shouldn't be a problem. Ashcroft is an ass. He is an embarrassment to the administration and the sooner he is gone the better. He has shown no interest in doing anything about corruption in high government offices except continuing the cover up.

8K blown because this weenie got his panties in a wad about his photo ops.
The real boob isn't on the statue.

That was a very, VERY stupid move on Ashcrofts part.
Just stupid and dumb.
Artistic sensibilities right out, oh man, I'm embaressed for him and for conservatives everywhere.
To: Tumbleweed_Connection
Ashcroft has transformed from the guy who would clean up justice, to the guy who would obstruct justice, to...well, a ninny.

Meese should have thought of this. One of the funniest moments in fedgov history was Meese delivering his porn study in between two naked statues.

Isn't the female statute the same one that was behind Ed Meese when he announced his pornography commission? That was a picture, let me tell ya.

This doesn't smell right to me....
I'll need confirmation from a source more reliable than Drudge before I buy this (Maybe AheadNews.com?).

The $8,000 should come out of his salary.

A mis-cue from Ashcroft. Reminds me of when Reagan's Secretary of the Interior James Watt diss'ed of the Beach Boys.
Ashcroft has every right to value personal modesty. But it's a requirement of his job to be politically savvy enough to avoid handing the Administration's enemies fodder for mockery. In other words, fight the culture war on battlefields that matter, not on a few bare breasts made of iron.

I imagine the curtains are temporary, only in use when he speaks. If that's what is going on, then maybe he should simply change locales for his briefings.

I saw the photo over at Drudge. The 'offending' statue is a sea green 1930's art deco piece with her arms raised.
I personally do not like the image but there is no reason to cover it simply because it makes for strange photo ops. Since this 'flap up,' no doubt every photographer in the world will be aiming at her green breasts rather than Ashcroft.
So why it it necessary to hold press conferences in that precise location next to the statute?
