It's been a looong time since my Ancient Greek course, but if I remember correctly they didn't use a word similar to "people" when referring to a group of men and women. They almost always used the masculine plural. In a way, it's similar to the way we use "mankind".

Exactly. This is a controversy about nothing.

By changing the holy word, they are changing this. God said what he MEANT to say, and who are we to change his thinking for him???? Are the thought police so much wiser?

Thank you. Appears that many folks have never learned another language and don't understand how words don't exactly translate. (eg. "Smell the air" in another language actually means "take it easy" in English)
