I suspect the reason why these perv priests are transferred instead of canned is simply that THERE AREN'T ENOUGH PRIESTS. Let priests marry - or at least set up an order of priests who can marry - and you'll see 1) more priests 2) a lot of culturally and politically and theologically CONSERVATIVE family-oriented guys taking vows and 3) a dilution in the numbers and influence of the gay circles within the clergy. It would make the Catholic church stronger, more manly and less wimpy-feminized, --- and there'd be enough good priests to choose from that the reprobates could be given the boot without any parish having to cut back on the number of masses on Sunday.

Disagree. As a Catholic, I think the Catholic church needs to stay traditional.

1. Priests are among the LEAST likely to be pedophiles, despite what the liberal, Catholic hating media says.

2. Law needs to resign.

In Jim Robinson's recent post about posting on FR he stated:

. And, along these same lines, please use the original titles on your article posts. Do NOT edit the titles. Do NOT use "My Title" titles. This will also help to reduce the number of duplicates.

Was it really necessary to change/edit the title that the Nando news site used?

Married clergymen also abuse children (at a higher rate btw - well-documented), have affairs with pashioners, have divided loyalties (wife and kids vs. pashioners), cost the church more money to maintain (they have families to care for)and get divorced. All of these give scandal to the community and cause loss of faith in the faint-hearted.

Conservative orders and dioceses have lots of vocations.

Let the priests marry? How about just a civil union in Vermont instead?

Heterosexuals are heterosexual; homosexuals are homosexual
and pedophiles are pedophiles. One has nothing to do with
another. And there's nothing worse than a pedophile that's
married with children.

Marriage isn't the answer; putting a stop to the Church's
protection of pedophile priests, is.

I'm not sure if you're Catholic or not, I'm not, but I think it's up to Catholics to set their own rules and for the rest of us to butt out. I have enough problems happening in my own church.

If you were the devil whose soul would you try to enter when they were living on earth and have them molest small boys? The priests that do the molesting have been molested by the devil. They are no longer servants to God but servants to the devil. The issue of being married or not means nothing to the devil ! Look at this the way the devil works and you'll see that the marrige issue doesn't really matter at all ! Catholics are the oldest religion after christ and the pope is the realtime Paul of our times so wouldn't you think the devil would target Catholic priests ?

He's also targeting other Catholics and it shows in their actions and opinions i.e., abortion ! With 55% of Catholics being pro choice I would say the devil has his way with them as he wants--No ?

There are other catholic churches that do allow the marriage of their priests. Both the Orthodox and Byzantines allow their priests that choice at the outset of their ministry. I understand it is a one time choice.

Also, I think I remember that a married priest in these bodies can never be a bishop.

The Byzantines recognize the Roman Pope as primate while the Orthodox do not.

The Catholic-bashing on this thread is thoroughly sickening. Anyone who's doing it, while proclaiming their loving faith for another Christian religion, needs to seriously re-examine their opinion - for your hatred is for a Church not too dissimilar from your own, and one that has hundreds of millions of loving followers.

TIME TO LET PRIESTS MARRY (my take) P>WRONG.
These things happens because, in part, homosexuals administer many of the
seminaries. They weed out candidates who are orthodox believers and/or sexually normal
in favor of homosexuals and other varieties of deviant. Bishops who resulted
from the post V-II period of attempted deconstruction of the Church are so thoroughly
attuned to modernist egalitarian sentiments that they recruited formerly disfavored
classes of people into the administration of the seminaries and the dioceses.

The expansion of the bureaucracy also sucked in feminists who feel it is their mission to
excise masculinity in all its forms from the Church and replace G_d with Mother Gaia.
The womanists moved in because men tend to be in the world of material production and
"churchwork" has always attracted women. The greatly enlarged bureaucracy made them
into the movers and shakers of policy in many dioceses and the feminists flooded in to take advantage of the situation.

I agree -- I wish the Catholic Church would allow married priests. Some married men also abuse children, but, as you point out, there would be a bigger base from which to draw non-abusive men.

If I remember correctly, in the Bible, someone (Christ? St. Paul?) said it was best for a worker in the Church to remain single if that individual found it possible, because the individual could devote all his efforts toward the Church. But men who still desired to be married were allowed to be married. Seems like good advice to me.
