There sure has been a ton of "worst of" threads today, like worst meal, worst movie, worst drink.

I haven't been around very long, but in the time I've been here, I've spent quite a bit of online time FReeping. I think most of "us" view FR as a community, rather than a on trick pony. We enjoy the interaction with people who share similar interests and concerns, whether it be politics, religion, or life in general.

It's not my server space, of course, but those threads you speak of are actually quite popular, and perhaps provide a respite from the political threads. I've certainly participated in them, when they were of interest.

I even liked a thread from Don Joe, who asked FReepers to pray for his cat. Not political, but stirring in that he thought highly enough to share with fellow FReepers. By the way, Don Joe, I hope Jessie is still eating well and feeling better.

Focusing on conservatism is essential, and as Martha would say, "A good thing," but a diversion is not always bad.

Yes, I know what you mean, as I have too. It is too bad we don't have some chat rooms, where we can talk together about our pets LOL.

I didn't want to PO anyone with that thread, and right after I posted it I saw this one started and had kind of a sinking feeling. I was grateful that it wasn't deleted. My health is pretty rotten, and "I don't get out much", so a lot of my human contact is via FR, so this is where I turned with that request. I know it sounded trite to people who don't own pets, but I think that most people who do know what they mean to us.
