Is our money religious? This bunch would find the Constitution "unconstitutional".

I love that kids in California must invoke the name of Allah, the creator of all, in class, but parents can't pay for and hang a sign which blesses people. What do these people eat to make themselves so stupid...

Whatcha wanna bet that if some student put up a sign that said, "Allah is great" it would be protected speech, and it would be hailed as diversity and multi-culturalism.

Evidently, free speech is a "violation of the US Constitution."

Satan is usually not too far behind the works of God's people, ready to dash it against the stones.

But Gilberto Dixon, 15, said he thought the sign would be "upsetting" to people who are not religious.

Wonder what the reaction for those who aren't religious find out there is a God. Might increase the old pucker factor a little...

My daughter went to kindergarden and 1st grade in PS 225 on Beach 135th Street in Rockaway. It is considered the best public school on the peninsula and they bus in students from disadvantaged areas...or at least they did back then (mid 70's). The day I saw one of the bussed-in students push a teacher against a wall outside the school, was the day I registered her in Catholic school. Best decision I ever made.

I noted that the Rockaway locals had no problem with the sign, they wouldn't, I'm sure they were proud of it...it was a member of the teachers' union who opened this can of worms. The UFT is one of the more powerful unions in New York City.

I was looking for some info on this subject in this week's issue of The Wave, Rockaway's local newspaper...but they only publish once a week, so maybe next week. But I found this letter from a couple of Beach Channel HS employees:

Dear Editor,

Rockaway is indeed composed of many wonderful people and lots of community organizations. But there is one community that is silent and afraid to be known. That's the gay and lesbian community. We are your sons and daughters, your brothers and sisters, your cousins, aunts and uncles. Those of us with the Board of Ed are no longer afraid to lose our jobs, but we are bloody afraid to be known in our own neighborhood. BCHS has a large lesbian contingent among its staff. We are role models for gay teens who may find "coming out" difficult.

Now, when Rockaway is more united than ever, we hope a spirit of tolerance will emerge stronger than ever.

The NEA, A.K.A the DNC. I would expect nothing else from one of their representative. Hotbeds of Anti-Amercanism and Anti-Religion. The NEA never fails to disappoint. Support vouchers, cut the power of the NEA.

Put the sign back up and put an "ACHOO!" in front of it.

I don't mean to be trivial with the above comment, but these PC people make me angry. Do they ever say "thank God" for some reason while they are in the school? Like "Thank God, we didn't have a flu epidemic this winter", or "Thank God the printer held up with that massive job!", or "Thank God whatever, whatever------"???

These holier than thou (oops, shouldn't say that!)people make me sick!!
